Originally from Rio de Janeiro, I came to New York to study at Columbia in 2018. Now, I am part of the TJ Singh lab at the New York Genome Center. We apply statistics and machine learning methods to get associations between psychiatric disorders or symptoms and genes. This involves challenges with large-scale data: genomes and phenotypes for tens or hundreds of thousands of people. And it also involves methodological challenges with finding biologically meaningful patterns in data and integrating different types of data.
