I worked as part of the 'back-end' of the Peer Mentor Services. I performed the administrative tasks that make Peer Mentor Services run. These included, interacting with other campus entities, designing flyers and other marketing materials, preparing timetables, promoting the program, doing Peer Mentor recruitment presentations, conducting interviews for recruitment, organizing and hosting events etc. Being staff, I also worked as the Treasurer of the Peer Mentor Club.

I worked with a faculty in a General Studies classroom for a term or an academic year. The faculty and the Peer Mentor works as a team to help the first year students grow and succeed in their journey at Cal State East Bay. As a Peer Mentor, I co-facilitated the class with the faculty. In the classroom, I hosted icebreakers, activities, led group discussions, did presentations about various issues related to student life. A very important aspect of working as a Peer Mentor was to build community among the GS students. This was achieved by creating a safe space for them to interact with each other and with us. I made careful observations of the students' behavior in and out of the classroom, kept in touch with them, provide support and be there for them. Apart from that I also hosted study events, social events, shared information about campus resources and promote the program. It was a great way to acquire Leadership skills, practice these skills, get feedback from my peers and grow.

I worked with a couple of brilliant faculties at CSU East Bay on a Medication Forecasting Research using Machine Learning. We tried to apply various Machine Learning techniques such as Decision Trees and Artificial Neural Networks on socio-economic data of various African countries. Based on the data, we tried to make predictions about certain disease. Due to this project I got to learn R programming language and the basics of the fascinating field of Machine Learning and apply these skills as well.
