# Priscila Silva > Product Development Engineer II at Viant Medical | Medical Device Industry Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/priscilasilva I have been working in R&D - Systems Engineering for medical devices the past 1.8 years. I have worked in multiple chronic and acute projects withiin Heart Failure. Throughout my career I have worked on designing and qualifying fixtures for V&V, planned human factors logistics to meet the project deadline, support and contribute to the development of design input requirements, and create and maintain documents and design history with the company design and quality control system. I am passionate about learning and always thrive to learn something new every day. I have several years of customer service experience from previous job positions, which taught me valuable communication skills, as well as working well with others. I am an effective communicator with a passion for leadership. ## Work Experience ### Product Development Engineer II @ Viant Medical Jan 2023 – Present ### System Engineer @ Abbott Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | Pleasanton, California, United States • Plan Human Factors activities and logistic to meet project timeline • Use case development • Perform risk analysis – failure mode and effect analysis for design input selection • Support and contribute the development of design input requirements • Monitor, organize and manage a projects task • Responsible for development of pre-design verification and design verification and validation activities • Traceability between design inputs, essential outputs, and associated risk • Perform product and process root cause analysis and problem solving • Create and maintain documents and design history with the company design and quality control system • Design and qualify fixtures to be used in verification and validation • Knowledge in ISO and FDA quality systems regulations ### CO-OP Student Worker @ University of the Pacific Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 I support my team in the following ways: • Managing student records while maintaining compliance with FERPA confidentiality law. • Adding data to excel spreadsheets or conducting KPIs • Pop up tables to spread awareness on current Cooperative Education events coming up • Training new student workers • Coordinated student appointments with Cooperative Education faculty by interacting with students at the front desk ### System Engineer CO-OP @ Abbott Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Pleasanton, California Systems Engineering CO-OP - Created and executed feasibility test for HeartMate Touch - Performed Verification and Validation testing for HeartMate Touch - Designed and qualified a human factors fixture used for training medical personals on one of Abbott's biomedical devices - Responsible for report creating and collecting data on multiple biomedical devices - Collaborated with engineers across multiple departments - Trained and managed incoming CO-OPs - Presented projects and reports to cross functional teams for review - Performed system testing for biomedical devices ### Hostess @ Perry's Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area • Managed the floor by making sure every server had the same amount of tables • Updated the floor with new reservations being made in person as well as through Open table • Took to-go orders and ran the orders in • Ran credit/cash transactions • Provide support on the floor by running drinks and food to tables • Managed the phone lines ### Summer Research Intern @ San Francisco State University Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area I worked under Professor Cheng Chen, PhD. in the structural engineering research lab at San Francisco State University. During this 10 week program I focused on data acquisition for parameter of Magneto-Rheological dampers. At the end of the 10 week program we published a paper with our findings and we were given the opportunity to present at the ASEE conference at Boulder, Colorado. The following is the abstract to the work conducted: The state of California has many fault line throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and other densely populated areas that are prone to earthquakes, and past research and data seem to conclude that there is a probability that an earthquake of at least 6.7 magnitude will occur in the next 30 years. An example earthquake of comparable magnitude, would be the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, which caused around 6 billion dollars in damages. In order to prevent a huge disaster to our infrastructure MR (Magneto-Rheological) dampers have been previously designed to dissipate energy from earthquakes. By analyzing different numerical models for the dampers, we are able to monitor their behavior and response to optimize their performance. Using software like MATLAB and UQ Lab we have been able to conduct various experiments, and collect data that has been gathered to see how the dampers will react in a real-world application. Our results also alerted us to any errors that happened in real-world applications and see if there needs to be adjustments within formulas, and parameters. Our goals helped us determine model parameters with probabilistic methods, and also compare/contrast models and respective parameters. ### EPIC Leader @ Cañada College Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 - under the Embedded Peer Instruction Cohort program, assist other STEM students with their current subjects - formulate class strategies, as well as example problems, to supplement professorial instruction - conduct pre-exam review sessions ### ASPIRES Scholar @ Cañada College Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 - was selected to take part in a collaborative program between Canada College's Department of Engineering, San Francisco State's School of Engineering, and UC Merced - studied experimental and research processes, literature reviews, instrumentation, as well as data acquisition and analysis in preparation for a summer role as a research intern ### Math Tutor @ Cañada College Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 - assisted students as a math tutor within Canada College's Math Jam program ### Sales Associate @ Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 As a sales associate at Last Call my responsibilities included: -product knowledge -knowing current and future promotions -providing excellent customer service -keeping my work space tidy and neat -floor moves, to promote new clothing/brands -fashion savvy, keeping up with trends -cash and credit transactions -opening new connection accounts ### Sales Associate @ Nordstrom Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 As a sales associate at Nordstrom my responsibilities included: -providing excellent customer service -ensuring the customer gets the best fit for them -product knowledge -keeping my department space tidy and neat -fashion savvy, keeping up with trends -making appointments for future one-on-one shopping -cash and credit transactions -opening new connections/accounts ## Education ### Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering University of the Pacific ### Associate of Science - AS in Mechanical Engineering Cañada College ### Associate of Arts - AA in Mechanical Engineering Skyline College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/priscilajsilva --- Source: https://flows.cv/priscilasilva JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/priscilasilva/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-30
