# Qing Gong > Engineering Manager at TigerGraph Location: Redwood City, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/qinggong Hi! I am a software engineer at TigerGraph. Before joining TigerGraph. I am a master's student at Pennsylvania State University, major in Computer Science and minor in Computational Science. I used to work as Research Assistant on design and implementation of numerical algorithms as Ph.D. candidate in Civil Engineering for 2 years before I changed my major. After my first year as a Master of Science student in Computer Science, I got a cumulative gpa of 3.96/4.0. I finished many programming projects within courses including Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Concurrent Scientific Programming, Digital Image Processing and Binary-level Program Analysis. Moreover I took more graduate-level project-intensive courses to improve my coding skill, such as Operating System Design, Computer Networks and Distributed System. I attended Kaggle competition Toxic Comment Classification Challenge in 2018 and got Top12% among all competitors. I evaluated 25 potential features in feature engineering for NB-SVM baseline and discovered 3 useful features. I appiled 5-layer GRU model with Keras and TensorFlow, enhanced with pre-trained GloVe word embeddings. The ensemble of the results of NB-SVM model and GRU model improved the AUC score from 0.9761 to 0.9829. My M.S. research focuses on extending a open-source project named Soufflé for lattice-based static analysis. Soufflé is a variant of Datalog for tool designers crafting static analyses. For now I have extended the parser to lattice definition and extended the semi-naïve evaluation scheme to rules with lattice. And I am working on how to extend the parallelization part in the interpreter and compiler with OpenMP and MPI. ## Work Experience ### Engineering Manager @ TigerGraph Jan 2022 – Present | Redwood City, California, United States ### Software Engineer @ TigerGraph Jan 2020 – Present | Redwood City, California, United States ### Master Student @ Penn State University Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | State College, Pennsylvania Area ### Graduate Research Assistant @ Penn State University Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 | State College, Pennsylvania Area Designed and implemented numerical algorithms with Delphi to resolve soil consolidation problems in civil engineering research project, with emphasis on the scheme of spatial discretization and optimization of temporal iterative solver for the numerical simulation. ## Education ### Master's degree in Computer Science Penn State University ### Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Civil Engineering Penn State University ### Master of Science - MS in Tunneling and Underground Structure Tongji University ### Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Tongji University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/qing-gong --- Source: https://flows.cv/qinggong JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/qinggong/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
