TA within the Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences Department at UCLA. I lesson plan and organize four 1-hour discussion sections each week, hold office hours for students, attend course lectures, prepare and grade weekly homework sets, and convey the course material in multiple forms to accommodate various learning styles.

I supported various projects across the office, lab, and field. Notable projects in the office were consolidating 100+ outside reports and reviewing outside exploration data (CPTs, borings, test pits, cross sections, trenches) in ENGEO’s GIS database, preparing cross sections in Slide2, writing descriptions of projects detailing ENGEO’s role, project highlights, and challenges overcome to advertise for future project bidding, and assisting with assorted engineering calculations. In the field, I observed rough grading and engineered fill placement, soil tieback drilling, installation, and testing, and prepared fault trench walls for logging by clearing soil smears and surveying distance marks with a radar level. In the lab, I ran index tests, #200 sieve washes, expansion index, and compaction curves.

I conducted laboratory testing of soils alongside a Ph.D. candidate to understand susceptibility and probability of liquefaction. I performed dry and wet sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits tests, direct simple shear tests, and training to handle foreign soils.
I extracted data from 600 CV-DSS, CTRX, and CTS soil tests to record in digital form. The compiled data is part of a seismic liquefaction modeling study by the Southwest Research Institute partnered with researchers through the Next Generation Liquefaction (NGL) project to analyze initial liquefaction stresses on soils.
I entered 25 liquefaction case histories containing earthquake information, liquefaction manifestation, digitized SPT and boring logs, CPT soundings, and laboratory data into the NGL relational database.

I set up and supervised athletic events, cultural, and recreational activities in Pauley Pavilion, Drake Track Stadium, L.A. Tennis Center, and John Wooden Center around the UCLA campus. I opened, closed, and monitored these facilities to assist patrons and groups.
