I’m a software engineer with over a decade of experience investing in my growth across consulting, product development, data platforms, and people leadership.
Experience
2022 — Now
• Led a team of engineers to develop and maintain data-intensive systems, ensuring data availability and accessibility to support pricing strategy operations and data-driven decision-making
• Directed the transformation of pricing data architecture, transitioning from a rigid MDM model to a shared services approach for scalable and performant data consumption by diverse stakeholders
• Eliminated architectural bottlenecks that limited data update volume and cadence, enabling virtually uncapped, granular data flows from optimization to execution
• Enhanced real-time-pricing capabilities, reducing latency from 6 hours to near real time, enabling dynamic and timely promotional updates
• Spearheaded the inception of a unified pricing platform, standardizing data definitions and access patterns to ensure common experiences across analytic tools and merchant systems
• Improved system resiliency and scalability during peak periods, ensuring uninterrupted pricing operations during high-traffic events like Black Friday
• Collaborated with recruiters to refine hiring practices, increasing diversity in the interview pipeline and creating more opportunities for underrepresented candidates
• Fostered the professional development of engineers through mentorship, continuous feedback, and skill-building opportunities, driving team growth and retention
2021 — 2022
2020 — 2021
2020 — 2021
• Migrated to MVVM architecture to allow for more thorough unit testing & fewer regressions
• Integrated with a third party payment SDK to have a single source of truth for subscriptions across platforms (previously there were multiple sources leading to data inconsistency issues)
• Worked on multi-page worksheets auto-save for students to work on homework remotely without losing progress
2019 — 2020
Pivotal was acquired by VMWare at the end of 2019. Spent roughly 70% of my time coding, 30% of my time managing.
Coding:
• Developed the backend to support installment payment plans for a major bank and retail partner that successfully processed over $1M in sales on the first day
• Enabled client teams to operate in an XP manner through pair programming, test-driven development, weekly iteration planning meetings, retrospectives, and a healthy collaboration between designers, product managers, and engineers
• Led a team of 4 developers to build an Android app that facilitates the coordination of group bike rides and connects to a Bluetooth sensor for safety features (Kotlin)
• Led a team of 6 developers to integrate with a team in Ireland and ramp up on the codebase, Java/Spring & Angular, and XP practices.
Managing:
• Directly managed three engineers at a given time
• Guided reports through changes in cultures and policies due to acquisition
• Collected and synthesized feedback to guide my reports' professional development
• Successfully coached a report to a promotion to Senior Software Engineer
• Onboarded two new hires to the consulting practice
• Advised on compensation adjustments adhering to company guidelines
• Conducted interviews to help with hiring
