I had the amazing opportunity to sailed with Military Sealift Command as an Engine Cadet part of their cadet shipping program where I was assigned to the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Rappahannock (T-AO 204). For four months, I worked alongside both unlicensed and licensed engineering department personnel, gaining hands-on experience on ship machinery such as, heavy duty deck equipment, lube and fuel oil purifiers, air compressors, boilers, water purification systems, waste disposal, and ship service/main propulsion diesel engines.
I also was fortunate enough to be onboard the Rappahannock when she took part of the bilateral military exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 where I conducted safe and methodical underway replenishments with the United States Navy and its allies.
