I'm Rasul, a Software Engineer at Readwise, where I contribute to both the Readwise and Reader applications. My work is full-stack, spanning web and mobile, frontend and backend, and involves tackling challenging problems in data modeling, parsing, and building robust integrations for services like Notion, Kindle, and Instapaper. It's a role I truly enjoy, constantly pushing me to learn and grow.

Outside of my primary role, I'm a passionate builder and entrepreneur, always eager to explore new technologies through side projects. My portfolio includes Built with Django (a resource hub for Django developers), Tech Job Alerts (a job scraping SaaS), TuxSEO (an AI-powered content generator), and I recently acquired the website "Is It Keto." I'm constantly experimenting with new ideas, from AI agents to open-source tools.

I believe strongly in "Learning in Public" and actively share my insights. I regularly publish technical tutorials and articles on my personal blog and through Built with Django, documenting my journey and contributing to the developer community. I also previously hosted the Built with Django podcast.

My curiosity extends beyond software. I'm an avid reader, delving into topics from systems thinking and history to philosophy and personal development, heavily leveraging Readwise Reader. I enjoy playing chess (and have even won a local tournament!), experimenting in the kitchen with homemade dishes and ferments, and dabbling in digital drawing. - Led the development and maintenance of critical third-party integrations (e.g., Notion, Pocket, Twitter/X, OneNote, Zapier, Roam), ensuring high reliability and seamless data flow for millions of highlights and documents.
- Significantly enhanced system observability and stability by implementing comprehensive logging, building advanced monitoring dashboards (New Relic, Sentry), and establishing robust error handling across core platform services.
- Drove key feature launches and modernizations, including a new OneNote export integration, multi-account support for Twitter/X, and a revamped Zapier platform, directly expanding user capabilities and product reach.
- Diagnosed and resolved complex data integrity and performance issues through deep data analysis (Canvas, SQL) and custom scripting, notably addressing document deduplication, export failures, and API rate limits.
- Optimized backend task scheduling and resource utilization, improving the efficiency and resilience of asynchronous processes and managing critical vendor API relationships (Hypothesis, Kobo) to ensure compliance and continuity.

- Implemented an Elasticsearch-based search engine for the internal affiliations service, which colleagues used to lookup clients and other colleagues. Made usable via FastAPI application and React frontend
- Worked on a file upload tool with Column Matching, Data Validations and Metadata tagging. Built with FastAPI, Angular and Databricks Jobs. Deployed on a Kubernetes cluster for easy scalability.

### Junior Backend Developer @ Guy Carpenter

- Developed a process to deploy Azure Logic Apps via ARM templates so that it is easier to track changes between versions.
- Built an entire solution from scratch to generate 10,000+ PDF reports and upload to Sharepoint in a structured manner. This required to process and analyze large datasets with PySpark via Databricks, save them in an Azure Data Lake and update the reports in Sharepoint via a Logic App. 
- Implemented a microservices-based architecture using Python and FastAPI for an internal affiliation service, using Delta Tables as the databases. Helped build a React frontend to consume the APIs. 
- Developed an automated Github Workflow for each environment (dev, qc, prod) to deploy each part of the application on the company's Kubernetes cluster.
