Load balanced a web farm with Nginx on 2 separate EC2 instances each running 2 Docker containers. - Used Database Indexing, Table partitioning, query restructuring, config tuning and schema changes to reduce query times to under 10ms on a PostgreSQL database while ensuring ACID compliance and data integrity for a real world calendar service. -Overall the System was optimized to achieve a latency of 70ms at 10,000 RPS with an 0% error rate. ### Software Engineer @ Personal Projects Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 - Trip planning application Image Carousel (React JS, styled-components, Node.js, Express.js, Webpack, MySQL, AWS EC2, Media queries, Jest, Enzyme) - integrated Google maps API to display a modal showing the location of a vacation. - Decreased page Loading speed by 92% by compressing the "bundle.js" file from 3.4mb to 220kb - integrated Service oriented architecture with a team of 3 while utilizing Agile development and Test driven development. Unit and end to end tests written with Jest and Enzyme to achieve 70% test coverage. - architected an express proxy server to handle routing for the different services while using MySQL to persist user data. ### Undergraduate Research Assistant @ University of Nevada, Reno Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 ·Assistant to Dr. Shahriar Badsha in his research on Blockchains. Helping with experiments, and development in Javascript, HTML5, and CSS. Co-authored research paper "Practical Ethereum Blockchain based Efficient Ride Hailing Service" that was submitted and accepted for publication with IEEE. Designed and developed projects in the programming languages, Javascript, and Solidity for a graduate level Blockchain course. ·Assistant to Dr. Shamik Sengupta, I conducted a Cybersecurity vulnerability assessment for a neighboring company in Reno, MSTS. I helped test different software and used my knowledge of Cybersecurity and Networking to write 3, 10-30 page reports. I used various software such as Cuckoo, Nessus, and ProcDot, to identify software vulnerabilities and then analyzed the network traffic behavior from the software. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering University of Nevada, Reno Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 ### Software Engineering Hack Reactor Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 ### Business/Commerce in General Diablo Valley College Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 ### Dougherty Valley High School Jan 2011 – Jan 2015 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/renatnorderhaug --- Source: https://flows.cv/renat JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/renat/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
