# Riccardo Valerio > UX Design Manager and lead, Google Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/riccardo My name is Riccardo Valerio and I am an interaction designer from Italy and a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design with an emphasis on interactive design and branding. I currently work at Google as an Design Manager and lead for The Smart Campaigns product on the Google Ads platform focusing on the needs of small business owners and emerging markets. Before that I was at an Intel-GE joint startup in the healthcare/technology sector called Care Innovations where I lead the UI/UX design for the Connect Caregiver and Connect Remote Care Management platforms. I spent the majority of my time researching and designing in an Agile environment while working closely with all the cross-functional teams. I conducted qualitative user research during development and after market-release. This included contextual inquiry, interviews and surveys. The user feedback then allowed me to design the UI based on concept ideation, usecase modeling, wireframes, and visual graphic design. By furthering our understanding of the complex interactions between caregivers and care recipients we continued to move one step closer to creating an easy-to-use suite of tools that helped caregivers confidently manage a loved one’s care at home or on-the-go. Before my four years at Art Center I attended the University of Southern California, where I studied international business and entrepreneurship at the Marshall School of Business. Although my education was focused on exploring interactivity through print and digital media design I also enjoyed taking part in Product design and Transdisciplinary Studios where I got to explore the limits of developing more tangible interactive experiences through the use of materials such as wood and various plastics coupled with digital electronics such as micro-processors and various sensors when needed. Now I am fortunate enough to continue this exploration through the use of my Formlabs 3D Printer. ## Work Experience ### Design Manager and lead @ Google Jan 2015 – Present | Google, Mountain View (Global HQ) Design manger and lead for Smart Campaigns on the Google Ads platform focusing on the needs of small business owners and emerging markets. ### Founder / CEO @ smplDSGN.
