# Rishika J. > CS @ Cal Poly SLO Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/rishika Hi! I'm currently contributing to Cal Poly CubeSat by debugging legacy code in low-level languages (C, Assembly) while utilizing Git and Vim. I'm specifically modifying custom drivers to support multi-channel ADCs. I have experience working in teams where I am continually learning from more experienced engineers. I interned twice at The Catholic University of America Physics Lab. I’ve learned to ask foundational questions to understand systems end-to-end. Within four weeks, I familiarized myself with the current light-yield setup, improved radiation emission measurements by 35%, and presented my research at a conference. To provide some context, this process occurred before I took any formal physics coursework in school. I look for opportunities to take ownership and contribute beyond my initial scope. Last year, I received the San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate Winner Award, which recognized my aptitude in computing. This year, I am reviewing those high school applications, rewarding diversity in computer science. After all, a product is only as universal as the diversity of the engineers developing it. Feel free to reach out, I'm always happy to meet new people! ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ PolySat Jan 2025 – Present | San Luis Obispo, CA Debugging legacy code in low-level languages (C, Assembly) and utilizing Git, Vim. Modifying custom drivers in the kernel space, facilitating multi-channel ADCs. Supporting research, telemetry pipelines, and groundstation operations. ### AI/ML Fellow @ Break Through Tech Jan 2026 – Present ### Social Impact Chair @ Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers Jan 2025 – Present Facilitating research x DEI&B talks on the intersection of engineering and inclusivity, highlighting how college engineering students can apply skills honed in class to solve problems in our community. ### Volunteer Coordinator @ Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | San Luis Obispo, CA Coordinated 25+ volunteers for Fall SWE Welcome, supported tours, panels, and club showcases. Welcomed high school students and helped participants envision themselves as future Cal Poly engineers. ### CENG Ambassador @ Cal Poly Engineering Jan 2025 – Present Walking backwards and providing campus tours to industry representatives, prospective students and families. ### Youth Leadership Council Member @ YMCA of the USA Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | San Jose, CA Interviewed and collaborated with county educational directors, doctors, and coordinators addressing the impact of the fentanyl epidemic on young adults. Served as Youth Emcee for the Asset Champions Awards Breakfast (500+ participants). ### Challenger @ GripTape Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Sunnyvale, California, United States Created a solution to reduce accidental overdoses caused by a lack of information on fentanyl laced pills. Selected as one of the 100 challengers in an applicant pool of over 1500 teenagers ($250 grant). ### Summer Intern at Physics Department @ The Catholic University of America Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Washington DC-Baltimore Area Developed Python algorithms to make rate estimations for pion and kaon electroproduction reactions. Their accuracy have been verified through a calculation of the missing mass in the reaction. Calculated the cross section and thus the rates for specific experimental setups at Jefferson Lab. ### Summer Intern at Physics Department @ The Catholic University of America Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 Calibrated a new light yield measurement system with lead tungstate scintillators. Successfully reconciled the discrepency in the light yield values by umproved radiation emission measurements by 35%. Cultivated collaboration and time management skills through 75 time sensitive readings. Presented my findings in the Physics-VSL Summer Scholar Conference. ### Data Science @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 Used tools such as Tableau, Looker Studio, and Weebly to create an invigorating website called "The Ripple Effect" (https://theplasticrippleffect.weebly.com). Raised awareness on the issue of single-use plastic waterbottle consumption via infographics and data visualizations. ### Mobile Application Development @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 Learned mobile application development using Swift. Created the app "Crystal" to revamp the donation experience and presented it to fellow scholars. ### Website Development @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 Learned website development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Developed the website "Pluto" to promote financial literacy in teens. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science in Computer Science California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo ### Homestead High School ### IB Diploma Candidate Marshall High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/rishika-k-jain --- Source: https://flows.cv/rishika JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/rishika/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-10
