# Rishikesh Gawade > SDE @ Bloomberg Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/rishikeshgawade Hi. I am a Graduate student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick (flagship campus), majoring in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science. I am passionate about exploring datasets, using and tweaking algorithms to dig into them, and extracting and translating exciting results into data-driven decisions. I am proactively exploring new avenues in data science and its related operations (DS/MLOps, simulations, ETL pipelines, scraping, etc.), and I am open to any new relevant opportunities in the industry. So far, I have a cumulative full-time experience of 3 years, having developed, from scratch, and delivered enterprise-level software solutions in the domains of Data Engineering and Microservices. As a professional, I am capable of proactively owning multiple responsibilities, spearheading the development of solutions autonomously, and translating business requirements into delivering exciting, optimal solutions within the stipulated time frame. As a budding Data Scientist, I have learned, applied, and even taught, in R and Python, several fundamental statistical and mathematical concepts such as - Hypothesis Testing (Z-test, t-test, Permutation Tests, ANOVA, KS Test), Bootstrapping and Jackknife, Expectation-Maximization, Parameter Estimation using MLE for assumed distributions, Correlation analysis, MCMC Simulation, Bayesian Inference, Regression, Gradient Descent, Mathematical Optimization and other standard tools for exploratory data analysis. Additionally, I keep exploring algorithms pertaining to clustering (KMeans, DBSCAN, OPTICS), recommendation (Collaborative Filtering) and other ML algorithms like XGBoost, ADABoost, etc. I am proficient in depicting a story from datasets by building interactive visualization dashboards using JavaScript libraries. My efforts and experiences have proved rewarding, as they collectively helped me win the prestigious Best Project Award from the director of the MS CS and Data Science program at Rutgers University and even helped me land an exciting opportunity in Red Hat's Emerging Technologies division. As I keep striving to hone my skills through any initiatives, I would be glad to brainstorm on potential ideas and contribute towards building impactful solutions in the space of Software and Data Science. Feel free to hit me up! ;) ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Bloomberg Jan 2023 – Present | Manhattan, New York, United States Bloomberg News C++, Python, Kafka, Grafana, Multithreading ### Graduate Teaching Assistant (Data 101) @ Rutgers University Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States • Teaching data manipulation techniques, hypothesis testing (z-test, ANOVA, Permutation test, Chi-square), regression and classification techniques for predictive analytics in R, and hosting and evaluating students' Kaggle submissions. • Holding office hours, grading assignments and quizzes, and providing valuable feedback and guidance to a class of 61 students. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Red Hat Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | New York, United States • MLOps: Designed and developed an end-to-end ML pipeline based on pre-trained YOLO model for optimized and containerized deployment on edge devices using MicroShift and GitOps. • Demonstrated that the YOLO model sparsified using SparseML library retained 94% of the baseline model’s precision and ran nearly 6 times faster than the baseline model on the simulated, resource constrained edge device. ### Graduate Teaching Assistant (Data 101) @ Rutgers University Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States • Teaching data manipulation techniques, hypothesis testing (z-test, ANOVA, Permutation test, Chi-square), regression and classification techniques for predictive analytics in R, and hosting and evaluating students' Kaggle submissions. • Holding office hours, grading assignments and quizzes, and providing valuable feedback and guidance to a class of 32 students. ### Software Engineer @ eQ Technologic Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | Pune, Maharashtra, India • Microservices: - Initiated and incorporated design changes through thorough consultations with the product teams to modernize eQ’s monolith products (eQubeMI and eQubeBI) by shifting to a microservice architecture, to leverage the products on cloud. - Segregated and spearheaded the development of the standard modules of eQ’s products – Scheduler, Admin Console, and Adapter as loosely-coupled services. - Designed and developed a simple service discovery module for the products based on the deployment modes demonstrated - Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, and on-premise environments. • Data Engineering: - Built and delivered connectors for Hadoop and MindSphere by creating suitable data models for seamless integration with eQ’s data migration (eQubeMI) and analytics (eQubeBI) products, leading to the implementation of cubes and processes to facilitate and orchestrate ingestion, ETL, and reporting. - Demonstrated ingestion of streaming data, collected from F1 game (version 2017) run on PS4, into MindSphere's Data Lake using eQubeMI with MindSphere connector. - Created cubes to demonstrate real-time reports based on the ingested data, on eQubeBI using MindSphere connector. Tracked the location of the car and other metrics like wear of tyre, speed, engine and brake temperatures, etc. - Designed and built a multi-node, Docker-based Hadoop data lake to consolidate different data stores and facilitate ingestion and reporting using heterogeneous data pipelines built using Apache Spark and eQubeMI. - Developed APIs and an efficient data pipeline to access aggregated datasets in RStudio for predictive maintenance use cases.
