# Rohail Asad > SDE @ Amazon Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/rohail I am a fourth-year at the University of California, Davis working towards earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Ever since I started pursuing a bachelor’s in computer science, I have immersed myself in learning new technologies to make useful websites and software. Along the way, I have developed all-round skills in object-oriented programming, problem-solving and logical thinking, teamwork, and software development. So, here is five quick things about me and my work/projects. 1. After my summer 2020 internship was canceled due to the health crisis, I co-founded Course Rater, a website that provides the students a platform to come together to recommend, rate, and review courses that helped them the most in their career paths. The beta version of the website is available at https://rate-course.herokuapp.com/. 2. I interned as a product manager at San Francisco Living Wage Coalition where I hired a team of 8 interns to develop a full-stack mobile application. 3. To learn the python Streamlit library, Pandas, and Plotly, I developed a website to do a sentiment analysis of U.S airlines based on a data of 14,600 tweets. The website can be found at https://us-airlines-analysis.herokuapp.com/ 4. One of my favorite school projects was a recommender system I built for my Artificial Intelligence class. I built a recommender system that allows the user to select between four Recommender system methods; logistic regression, Non-negative Matrix Factorization, K Nearest Neighbor, and Classification and Regression Trees to build a prediction model. 5. I collaborated with a team of 3 students for a school project to build a UC Davis Lost and Found Website. I successfully finished the backend of the project using express, NodeJS, and SQlite3 and received an A+. ## Work Experience ### Software Development Engineer @ Amazon Jan 2022 – Present | Sunnyvale, California, United States ### Software Engineer Intern @ AVEVA Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | San Leandro, California, United States o Collaborated with a team of 8 in an Agile environment to develop the OSIsoft Cloud Services. o Proposed a design document for log monitoring of Usage Service. o Implemented PowerShell Scripts that monitors logs in various Azure resource groups and sends a report to Microsoft teams. o Received feedback from the team and enhanced the format of the report. o Improved the test coverage of Usage Service from 65% to 91% by performing integration and unit tests. o Refactored the SalesforceEngine to remove 2 bugs and to make it unit testable and readable. o Reviewed code developed by team members and provided feedback to ensure best practices. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Dandekar Lab Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Davis, California, United States o Developed a website to visualize the genome sequence of walnut plant using the Integrated Genome Browser, an open-source genome browser. o Formatted and sequenced chromosomes data to allow the user to select and study 16 different chromosomes. o Received an overwhelmingly positive feedback from the project manager and 3 plant biology research students. ### Co-Founder | Software Developer @ Course Rater Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 • Utilized MERN stack to develop and design a full-stack web app to provide students a platform to rate and review courses. • Developed and implemented an eloquent, well documented, and reusable API. • Added the features to allow the users to edit, delete and report the reviews. • Allowed the user to filter and sort the reviews by the professor, most liked, and latest. • Used NodeJS and Express to develop the backend of the application and designed a highly efficient database design. • Successfully launched the product and received 50-course reviews and ratings within the first week. ### Developer Relations @ Bit Project Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | United States • Developed, designed, and reviewed the computer science curriculum in a team for 13 non-tech students. We taught object-oriented programming and data structures by designing interactive python tutorials and by implementing stimulating lessons, allowing students to develop a passion for the subject. • Administered students to solidify their knowledge base and challenged them by assigning coding problems that use data structures while keeping in mind the algorithmic complexity. ### Product Manager Intern @ San Francisco Living Wage Coalition Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco, California • Hired, managed, and assigned tasks to a team of 8 interns based on their technical skills. • Used React Native to develop the front-end of a full-stack mobile application that collected donations from participants and informed them about future events within the organization. • Successfully deployed the application on google play store. ### Student Worker @ City College of San Francisco Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 • Administered customer service and assisted students and teachers with photocopying and school supplies. • Maintained and updated inventory records and provided more than 3,000 students with a class schedule. ### Student Programmer @ City College of San Francisco Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco ### Intern @ Project Pull Summer Internship, SFPUC Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area Mapped the San Francisco Oceanside Treatment Plant and finished a project with a team of engineers to determine the corroded parts of the pipeline at the Water Pollution Control Plant. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science University of California, Davis Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/rohail-asad-51a325138 --- Source: https://flows.cv/rohail JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/rohail/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
