# Runming Fan > MDes @ UC Berkeley | UX & Product Designer | AI + Tangible/Music Interfaces | Seeking Summer 2026 Internship Location: Berkeley, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/runming Hiii! I’m Run-ming (Eva) Fan, a Master of Design student at UC Berkeley with a background in Industrial Design from ShanghaiTech University and an exchange semester at MIT. My work sits at the intersection of UX design, product design, and human-centered design, often blending AI, tangible interaction, and music technology. I specialize in user research, interaction design, and rapid prototyping, with hands-on skills in Figma, Adobe Suite, Fusion 360, Arduino/ESP32, sensors, and programming (Python, JavaScript, HTML). I enjoy turning abstract ideas into intuitive and usable experiences. My portfolio ranges from AI-enhanced musical instruments like ObjecTone and Humoment to interactive installations like Breathings and products like PlugiYoga. These projects explore how design can bridge humans, technology, and everyday objects. In industry, I interned at Philips/Feisheng (industrial design of foldable displays) and Deemos Technologies (UI/UX design for ChatAvatar, a 3D model generator). These roles deepened my ability to integrate UX principles, product strategy, and cross-functional collaboration into real-world product development. Currently, I am seeking Summer 2026 internships in UX design, product design, or creative technology, where I can apply my interdisciplinary background to create human-centered, innovative, and impactful experiences. ## Work Experience ### Product Designer (UI/UX + Front-End) @ Hanbridge Jan 2025 – Present | United States ### Design Researcher @ Hybrid Ecologies Lab Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Pudong, Shanghai, China Completed thesis project ObjecTone, an AI-assisted human-object music co-creation system design. ### Designer @ Motor and Motion-Control Lab Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Shanghai, China Assist in the 3D modeling and fabrication of robot face. ### Assistant Manager @ ShanghaiTech University Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 | Pudong, Shanghai, China The assistant manager of the workshop of the School of Creativity and Art. Assist in formulating the rules and regulations of the workshop, make instructions for the use of equipment and the seal of the college books, on duty for 3 hours a week to ensure the normal operation of the equipment, assist the students of the school to make models, and serve as the live broadcast anchor on the campus open day, comprehensively displaying the teaching facilities and living environment of the college for 4 hours, and answering questions online. ### Teaching Assistant @ ShanghaiTech University Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Pudong, Shanghai, China Teaching assistant of "Design Thinking: Innovative Solutions for Product and Interaction Design". During the 4-week period, assisted in the whole process and helped the class of 35 students complete 7 in-class design projects. Purchase consumables for the course before class, write instructions for the use of tools, provide professional advice for students during class, assist in making course models, answer questions for students after class, and collect statistics on homework. The teaching assistant scored 4.99/5 in the teaching evaluation. ### UI/UX Designer @ DeemosTech Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Pudong, Shanghai, China Design the web and mobile UI for “Chatavatar,” which uses AI to generate 3D human avatar models. Produce complete wireframes and interactive prototypes. 1. Independently complete the full UI design prototype and interaction effects for the feature “Creating 3D facial models by taking multiple-angle photos in succession.” 2. Independently complete the interaction process and information architecture reconstruction from web to mobile, including the design of interfaces and interaction methods. 3. Assist in the research of information architecture and interaction methods for similar products, and the construction of wireframes. ### Product/Industrial Designer(Global Project Manager Department) @ TPV Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Minhang District, Shanghai, China Research and design an ultra-thin foldable display concept for AOC, producing sketches and renderings. 1. Research the product appearance of various brands of monitors. By searching the internet and comparing samples, summarize the appearance characteristics of each brand’s products and submit a research report. 2. Learn the structural framework of monitor products, by disassembling actual machines to understand the structure and components of display products. Submit a product teardown diagram and an introduction to each part/component. 3. Combine knowledge of product appearance, through internet searches and existing product experiences, to understand the structural materials, textures, and safety requirements of monitor products. Submit the CMF documentation of existing monitor products. 4. Product ID concept design, provide 1-2 ultra-thin monitor product concept designs as selling points, and present the design results in a 2D manner. Product appearance design, based on the actual placement of existing products, design a new appearance for an existing product and display the new design scheme with rendering graphics. ### Design Researcher @ Lab for Experiential and Affective Design Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Pudong, Shanghai, China Apollo Smart Cockpit Design Project Combined with online research and brainstorming, the target user's portrait and seven stages of the user journey are produced, possible design directions are proposed, and a 1:1 experimental model is made. ## Education ### Master's degree in Design University of California, Berkeley ### Bachelor of Engineering - BE in Industrial Design ShanghaiTech University ### None in Human-Computer Interaction Massachusetts Institute of Technology ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/run-ming-eva-fan - Website: https://eva.fan --- Source: https://flows.cv/runming JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/runming/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-08
