# Ruoyu (Jeff) Wang > SWE, System Verification at Wayve Location: South San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ruoyu Experienced System Validation Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the automotive industry. Skilled in HIL design and integration, Vehicle/System Level Troubleshooting, AutoCAD, , Control Systems Design, Closed-Circuit and Test Planning. Strong information technology professional with a Master of Engineering (MEng) focused in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from California State University-Long Beach. ## Work Experience ### SWE, System Verification @ Wayve Jan 2025 – Present | Sunnyvale, California, United States Sensor replay system integration: Integrate a dSPACE replay system to Wayve AV platform. The replay system takes recorded on road data (cameras/CAN/GNSS), and replays the data streams to Wayve AV compute unit. The system runs on a real-time processor(SCALEXIO), and all the data streams are synchronized based on recorded timestamps, which guarantees the replay scenarios reproducing exactly what happened in the real world. The system provides more test coverage of intervention events, and is also used for evaluating AV performance and improvement. HIL bench integration: Owning the hardware/software commissioning of HIL benches, support to maintain the benches in CI/CD pipeline. Optimize design/tools on the bench to improve the efficiency of the benches ### Staff Hardware Engineer @ Cruise Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco Bay Area Design and build carHIL for vehicle/system level validation. 1. Design and integrate a dSPACE simulator and other HIL tools inside the vehicle, to simulate all driver/passenger operations. Features includes power cycle the vehicle; plug/unplug charger; gear shifter control, headlight and wipers etc. 2. Provide CAN/LIN and I/O monitor for key ECUs. 3. Design a CAN gateway structure to allow test engineers to override any CAN signals from host vehicle to AV system, or vice versa. This feature allows create tests that cannot easily achieve in real work. For example: override coolant temperature or SOC value, and verify AV behavior. ### Senior Hardware Engineer II @ Cruise Jan 2021 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco Bay Area Lead team to design, maintain, upgrade and optimize HIL (hardware in the loop) test benches with HIL simulators (dSPACE/National Instrument). Responsibilities: 1. Work on bench circuit design and simulator model design (Simulink) to provide additional features on existing system benches and component benches with HIL simulators. Features includes power control logic for each component on the bench to achieve different test purpose ; Current and Voltage monitor for each component; Fail safe protection logic for modules; Power consumption calculation; High Resolution Wheel Encoder simulation. 2. Standardize and modularize the circuit design of the system benches 3. Collect information from GM team, and design CAN & LIN bus for modules on the bench. Work in Simulink model to provide proper simulated CAN/LIN messages with dynamic state flow. 4. Design a LIN gateway to allow the simulator either forward LIN messages between modules, or send customized logic to each module, based on use cases. ### Sr HIL Test Engineer @ Cruise Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Design and build AV System Bench that integrated with dSPACE Simulator. Responsibilities include: 1. Design bench topology and bench schematic according to vehicle documentations from GM team; 2. Design bench structure and source necessary hardware to build the bench; 3. Consider future expansions and potential upgrades, and reserve necessary spaces and interfaces; 4. Specify bench standard like wire size, wire color, inline connector, etc.; 5. Provide instructions and guidance for technicians to build the bench; 6. Collect information from GM and integrate a dSPACE simulator on the bench, to provide host vehicle simulations to a GM gateway module. 7. Follow up with GM teams to maintain and upgrade the system bench from early prototype level to pre-production level; 8. Provide feedbacks for issues been found on the bench. The bench represents the vehicle harness electrically in order to provide a system level test environment to verify the hardware functionalities. ### EE system Integration & Validation Engineer @ Karma Automotive LLC Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | 9950 JERONIMO ROAD, IRVINE CA 92618 EREV Truck: Leading software integration of a truck with Karma powertrain. All the original interior components remain the same. Integrate Karma system with truck's EPS, cluster, pedals, HVAC, buttons and switches; defined the architecture; develop software of interface module; design schematic and harness; and plan validation procedures. Labcar HIL: Design and integrate a vehicle in the loop system with dSPACE HIL device. Unlike normal HILs, most of the signals in the system are not simulated, instead, only “User Actions” are simulated, so that the test cases are very close to real life conditions. HIL bench is connected to a Labcar that has all the parts in it, and Critical I/Os on controllers are still be able to be configured or overwrote. The HIL is able to test vehicle level features such as Power Mode, AC Charging, Gear Transitions, IOD measurement, LV battery maintenance, FOTA, switch controls etc., and combined tests with different modules and systems. Full Electric SkateBoard: Using MicroAutobox to design an interface which provides CAN signals and I/Os for powertrain and chassis components, and also provides feedback of the system. Define the architecture for the integration, control logic of the controller for communicating with powertrain, and safety functions as well. ### Electrical Engineer @ BYD America Corp Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Greater Los Angeles Area Main duty is integration of air conditioning system (TK, Sutrak, BYD), electrical/coil defroster system (BYD, MCC), battery cooling system (BYD), electrical/diesel/hybrid heating system (BYD, Spheros) and digital/analog camera surveillance system (Apollo, REI, Safety Vision, etc.). Other duties including: Communicate with different vendors and involved with system designs and optimizations. Support production on the questions of BOMs, designs and system validation testing. Edit and release ECNs to convert designs to working instructions for workers and technicians. Test and troubleshooting high voltage system and low voltage system. Construct standardized paper work like: working instructions, BOM verification process, parts manual, etc. ### Product Manager Intern @ Belkin International Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Irvine, CA, US Test and troubleshoot KVM products and Access Points. Research on cloud control for APs. Research and analyze the market to understand trends. Collect and summarize market information and use this analysis to provide recommended actions to leadership. Estimate product price to determine it will make profit or not. Talk to sales to know the market demand and help to build new products. Discuss with technicians about product optimization Identify opportunities that meet market needs and launch products into the market. Communicate with vendors to improve products. Prepare paper works including test report and research report. Pack and deliver products on time and in good condition. ### Station Manager Assistant @ Tianjin Metro Operation Company Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Tianjin City, China Follow the station protocols to ensure passengers have safe and friendly experience. Adjust trains arriving and departing time to meet the desired schedule. Organize staffs for rush hours and emergency situations. Estimate the daily passenger flows according to tickets sales. Communicate with passengers for feedbacks to improve service. Help maintenance TVMs, platform screen doors and ventilation blower system. ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ruoyu-jeff-wang-57529010b --- Source: https://flows.cv/ruoyu JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ruoyu/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-11
