# Russell Maxfield > AWS, Serverless, Node, React/Native... Yes please! Location: Herriman, Utah, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/russellmaxfield I'm an experienced software engineer with a huge focus on Javascript/Typescript. I've been doing web, mobile, and server development for years. I'm a huge believer in keeping your whole stack as uniform as possible which is why TS is so awesome! I can pretty much build anything I set out to do with it. I love GraphQL, React, React Native, Node, Serverless, Lambda and Dynamo and other AWS tools. Somehow I always seem to have side projects going on. But, thats where I learn the most so it's never gonna stop! We were constantly bouncing ideas of each other and the idea for Strolo really stuck. So we began work on it for a couple months. I then realized if we were going to make progress I needed to go full time on this. I quit my day job and went full time for a couple months, but after we continued to do more market research, release the MVP, and adapt. We quickly realized that we were headed in a direction we didn't want to go. With it all though. It was an awesome experience and would do it again! Time for a new ventrue! ### Senior Frontend Developer/Manger @ Weave HQ Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | Lehi, UT When I joined Weave, they were at the start of gaining massive growth. Originally I joined to be apart of their analytics team building graphs and other UI experiences that go along with analytics. Shortly after starting, I found myself constantly addressing tech debt. Tech debt is totally understandable for where Weave was at on their journey. In order to scale the product and keep it secure I, along with another dev created a plan to migrate, update, and better secure their product. I then moved to a team where I was able to dedicate all my time to the core infrastructure of the products. I was also able to become a "Chapter Lead" over 6-7 Frontend engineers. ### Frontend Developer @ Jane.com Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 | Lehi, Utah When I started at Jane one of my main tasks was to migrate their frontend from Angular to React. In doing so, we were able to increase the performance of the site 10 fold. Being a huge fan of React Native, I put a proposal together to build an upcoming app they wanted built for the sellers of Jane in React Native. When it came down to it and I got the green light, I had weeks to build a fully fledged app in time for Jane's seller conference. It was quite the feat and I was able to get it out the night before, or should I say morning of. ### CTO @ Chillin' Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 Starting up Chillin' I built an IOS and Android app that allows users to connect with their friends face to face, in the moment. I started this company with my cousin where I was built out all the software. After a year of development (and learning a ton, both what to do and what not to do with a start up) Money became a factor and we had to seek employment elsewhere. But, that said, if I could go back I would definitely do it again as building every aspect of an app, from server, to client, to deployment is where i feel I was able to get a huge jump start to my career. ### Web Developer @ Lightning Kite Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Logan ut At Lightning kite, I have gained a lot of experience covering everything from creating backends in Django, to consuming API's in Angular. I have gained a firm knowledge of everything it takes to build a well written, tested, reliable web app. I have also helped implement a company wide style guide to allow for clean and proper code within the company. ### Owner @ SAFE Network Securities Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Bluffdale Ut. I started a company that specializes in securing home and private networks from outside intruders. I researched and studied for the how to optimize, secure, and have a more dependable network. I realized how easy it is to break into unsecured networks and decided i needed to help others be safe. Safe Network Securities purpose was to secures computer systems, and other devices connecting to the network by installing and configuring top of the line antivirus and firewall software, and securing the access point with top of the line gear. ### CS Tutor @ Utah State University Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 Helpped students understand the fundamental concepts of computer science and programming.
