# Ryan Prescott > Founding Engineer @ Indexify Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ryanprescott 8+ years of combined corporate, startup & freelance experience. Many more years dabbling in code since grade school. I’ve built my career on curiosity, problem-solving, and the joy of turning ideas into functional, elegant solutions. I bring a well-rounded skill set to the table, tackling everything from sleek user interfaces to rock-solid backend systems. Here's the thing: as much as I love code, it’s the people behind the projects that matter most. I thrive in team environments (especially on-site) where brainstorming, troubleshooting, and collaboration are the norm. There's something special about working shoulder-to-shoulder with teammates to tackle tough challenges and push a vision forward together. I'm also interested in opportunities that offer growth and security - being able to feel like I'm part of something for the long run. I’ve also got a knack for working with legacy systems (PHP, jQuery; looking at you) and modernizing them without breaking a sweat. Whether it's adding new features, porting to the latest stacks, or simply figuring out how to make it all play nice, I’m always up for the challenge. If you’re looking for someone who can write clean, performant code and appreciates the value of shared goals and team-driven success, let’s connect. ## Work Experience ### Founding Engineer @ Indexify Inc Jan 2025 – Present | New York, NY At Indexify, I define the technical strategy for our self-custody investing platform, aligning complex blockchain engineering with core business objectives. Leveraged MongoDB and Mongoose for efficient database management. ➥ Led initiatives to enhance security measures, conducting a guerrilla security audit of our remote monitoring software to fortify our defenses and ensure alignment with established policies. Identified a lack of access control measures on company hardware. ➥ Drove the rapid release of numerous features, often working late into the night to meet stringent deadlines. Overcame challenges posed by legacy codebases and facilitated the implementation of new functionalities. ➥ Developed a comprehensive suite of unit tests for API endpoints, guaranteeing seamless deployment of features to production without delays or bugs. ### Full Stack Developer @ SendaRide Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States As a contractor at SendaRide, I tackled the intricacies of a complex codebase, adeptly maneuvering between legacy AngularJS and modern frameworks like React and Angular. Leveraging tools like Android emulator and mitmproxy, I reverse engineered the company's Android app to streamline API documentation, ultimately contributing to smoother development processes and rapid feature deployment. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 ➥ Navigated a diverse tech stack, including legacy AngularJS, PHP, and jQuery, alongside modern tools like Node.js and Express for API endpoints. Employed Android emulator and mitmproxy to reverse engineer the company's Android app, enhancing documentation of the API flow amidst codebase complexities. ➥ Spearheaded efforts to streamline development processes, leveraging insights gained from reverse engineering to improve understanding of API interactions and facilitate smoother integration with back-end systems. ➥ Played a pivotal role in driving iterative improvements, collaborating closely with the team to overcome challenges posed by the existing codebase and ensure efficient implementation of new features. ### Full Stack Developer @ TrustEngine Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Owings Mills, Maryland, United States I maximized personal strengths in designing and implementing back-end code with Node.js and Express. I actively supported the transition to the new billing provider Ordway by composing webhooks and microservices to engage with Ordway APIs. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 ➥ Demonstrated expertise in building 2 major client-facing features and 10+ components with TypeScript (React and Angular-based on Figma designs). ➥ Developed a client-facing billing portal to interface with new Ordway billing services. ➥ Member of a small team of 2-3 migrating company infrastructure from 1 billing vendor to another; worked with a new vendor to ensure the new product met the needs of all the users. ➥ Completed project within a 2-month timeframe while being on time and within budget. ### Software Engineer (Web3) @ Galaxy Ventures Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Sheridan, WY I employed Ethers.js to shuttle data back and forth from smart contracts on EVM-compatible blockchains. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 ➥ Built frontend and backend components for a crypto swap platform called UmamiSwap on the Binance Smart Chain, using React, Express, TypeScript, Node.js, and Ethers.js. I wrote a few microservices in Go and I was getting a knack for it, but ultimately it was not a large part of the development cycle. ➥ Built a static content analysis tool which compared verified smart contracts on BSCScan against known malware samples, ensuring users could check the safety of their potential investments before putting real money on them. ➥ Created a component for the company, DefiPixel, to issue analytics and specific marketing data allowing the website to associate a user’s crypto wallet with an IP address and associate other wallets they’ve interacted with; delivered the MVP proof of concept and logged pertinent data across all affiliated web properties. ➥ Conceptualized and built 15+ React components, streamlining functionality, accessibility, and ease of interaction with blockchain endpoints. ➥ Constructed a custom Web3 authentication scheme to enable users to authenticate against the UmamiSwap backend using their MetaMask wallets. This auth scheme used a unique signed message consisting of random unicode Braille characters, to avoid scaring the user by presenting e.g. random hex or alphanumeric gibberish. ### Information Systems Specialist II @ Washington County Community College Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Calais, Maine, United States After a new IT Director was hired, I resumed my previous duties but reported directly to the IT Director. ### Information Systems Specialist II (acting as Interim IT Director) @ Washington County Community College Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Calais, Maine, United States I was the sole IT staff member on site for almost a year following the resignation of my colleagues.
