Started off in the Emerging Technology & Innovation Group (FKA Special Projects Group) working on AI Assistants. The experiment was successful and my team was moved into the broader R&D org. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Twilio Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 • Successfully led a critical compliance project (#1 company priority) that allowed internal and external customers to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, resulting in a 10% MoM reduction in compliance-related customer tickets • Led the successful migration of databases from MySQL on EC2 to AWS Aurora, resulting in a 25% reduction in latency and an estimated $100k in annual cost savings • Identified and fixed top causes for errors in critical endpoints, improving the endpoint success rate from 95% to over 99.95% • Spearheaded the migration of the caching layer from Hazelcast to AWS ElastiCache, improving platform scalability and reducing response times by 30% • Led Terraform efforts across the organization, resulting in improved infrastructure-as-code practices and a 30% reduction in deployment time • Contributed to platform bug fixes outside of my immediate team, resulting in a $250k+ reduction in cloud costs and improved platform stability for all users • Drove deprecation and consolidation efforts of legacy roles, resulting in decreased overhead and cognitive load for teams • Improved the lives of on-call engineers by identifying and fixing noisy pages, reducing the total number of pages by 50%, resulting in a 70% reduction in after-hours incidents and a 20% increase in on-call engineer NPS ### Software Engineer @ Envoy Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Envoy's platform facilities workplace management into one platform. It allows organizations to check-in visitors, allow employees to book desks and rooms, and ensure that workplaces maintain safety and compliance standards through health attestation. As an engineer on the Developer Platform team, I enabled the company's transition from multi-product to platform-first. This included exposing internal systems through a uniform GraphQL + REST interface, hiring for and building an app store that allowed partners to publish their custom apps, and driving department-wide initiatives to improve engineering tooling and processes. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Jelli, Inc. Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 ### Software Engineer @ Jelli, Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2020 | San Mateo, California • Increased team transparency and grew knowledge base by introducing root cause analysis process • Led third-party integrations team for self-service advertising platform for small and medium businesses • Implemented OAuth mechanism for end user and inter-service authentication and authorization • Represented company by attending and presenting at conferences • Led Innovation Labs team to dream up and integrate innovations into existing audio advertising solutions • Enabled developer productivity by implementing continuous integration pipelines • Supported internal and external customers via on-call rotation ### Software Engineer Intern @ Jelli, Inc. Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 During my time at Jelli, I improved the efficiency of a web-based audio player by migrating the audio player from jPlayer to the Web Audio API. This allowed me to enhance the user experience by creating audio-based visualizations such as volume meters, spectrum analyzers, and play progress indicators. I then implemented the new audio player into an existing Ember framework. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Skybox Imaging Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | Mountain View, CA In my second internship at Skybox Imaging, I worked as a Software Engineering Intern on the ground systems team. I improved the team's insight into its applications by writing a suite of Python scripts to verify the overall health of the system, including database connections, expected HTTP response codes, and daemon services. In addition to the suite of Python health checks, I designed and implemented an application-level monitoring solution for Java applications. These metrics included information regarding JDBC connections/connection pool, JMX MBeans, and resource usage. I collaborated with another intern to build a web application to collect the metrics from health checks and Java applications to display a high-level overview of the health of the applications of any given machine. This enabled engineers and flight operations to quickly diagnose and address problems in the production and development environments. Skybox was acquired by Google in June 2014. ### IT and Network Operations Support Services @ Skybox Imaging Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Mountain View, California During my time on the IT & Network Operations team, I administered a virtual environment with more than 200 developer, integration, and QA machines. I also installed security system and alerts for high-clearance areas, built physical servers to securely charge Skybox satellites at launch base, and set up a network backup system using FreeNAS for workstations in the flight center. The project I am most proud of during this internship involved setting up a company-wide monitoring system that collected metrics from security systems, system metrics from virtual environments, and system- and application-level metrics from the air-gapped flight control center. In addition to my work in network operations, I supported company members with everyday technology needs. As this was my first internship in the tech industry, I also learned the basics of navigating the command line, distributed computing, and networking. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science Santa Clara University ### Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music (Percussion Performance) Santa Clara University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ryanrishi - Website: https://ryanrishi.com - GitHub: https://github.com/ryanrishi --- Source: https://flows.cv/ryanrishi JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ryanrishi/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
