Utility Digital led the effort to bring the PYXIS data analysis product—Worldview—to the web. The product is a dynamic data-driven 3D WebGL globe on which a huge variety of live datasets can be layered in real-time, online and ready to deliver big data to clients like NASA and NRCan.
•Consolidated the original PYXIS Worldview product offerings—3 different products across two websites—into a single cohesive web app
•Prototyped and designed an embeddable version of the product to be used on third-party websites for both desktop and mobile
•Initiated and implemented live user -testing as a foundational strategy for the company. Every month I would lead public engagements to test the latest builds of Worldview. We put products into the hands of real people, quickly finding previously unknown pain points and product weaknesses
•Wireframed the e-commerce layer that dealt with licence chaining of geospatial data as well as the browsing and purchasing of datasets that ranged in price from free to $100k licenses
•Prototyped method to display different types of datasets—vectors, rasters and point—in a legend UI but also how to give users a way of stylizing that data in different ways—colour, shape and patterns
