# Sam Hecht > Software Engineer Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/samhecht ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Bloomberg LP Jan 2022 – Present | Manhattan, New York, United States ### Software Engineer @ DCS Corp Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Alexandria, Virginia, United States I joined DCS Corp as a Software Engineer shortly after graduating college in May 2020. I have been working on defense contracts pertaining to autonomous vehicle systems. In particular, I have been developing software for the user interface and communications layer of these systems. Responsibilities/Accomplishments: -Implemented a modular API to enable programmatic access to over 20 radio parameters -Reduced mission planning time by 80% through scripted network file syncing -Wrote ~30% of the micro-controllers required to integrate with a new robotic platform -Ensured on-time delivery by abstracting the addition of ~20 UI status indicators into a configuration scheme requiring only a single extensible event-handler -Acted as software lead at client offsites to support system integration and soldier training -Developed new engineers by recording conceptual videos and setting up pair programming meetings ### Software Engineering @ Cerillo, LLC Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Charlottesville, Virginia Area I started working at Cerillo as a summer intern, and then ended up transitioning into a part-time role during my last year of college. My main project while at Cerillo was to build a system to add wireless capabilities to their Stratus lab instrument. Accomplishments: -Architected and built a system still in use to provide wireless access to the Stratus -Reworked the Stratus firmware and built a transparent router with a Raspberry Pi to create a data pipeline between the server and the local embedded XBee network -Built a React web application with a Node and Postgres backend to manage users, register devices, send remote commands to the Stratus, and display lab experiment data -Built two Electron desktop apps that allow users to configure the headless router and install Cerillo software packages I was the only software engineer by trade on this team, so it was a great opportunity for me to learn a lot of new concepts, work through issues independently, and practice my ability to make design decisions and plan for the future. Most of this work was done part-time while I was a student, but I think it is still my most impressive project, and the one that I'm most proud of. ### Software Engineering Instructor @ Forge Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Charlottesville, Virginia, United States Forge (formerly HackCville) is an organization within Charlottesville and the UVa area, which aims to teach students entrepreneurship and technical skills like software development, data science, and marketing. They also have a 'Launch' program, where they select driven students, provide a month of rigorous courses in one of these aforementioned topics, and then pair the students with internships at companies in Charlottesville. I was selected as the instructor for the 'Advanced Software Engineering' track of 'Launch'. Responsibilities: -Created lesson plans for web development technologies such as React, Express, Google Firebase, Git, and Postgres. -Taught live coding classes on these concepts, answered questions, and attended office hours to help students with their projects. -Organized social events to promote community within the course and the organization as a whole. ### Technical Intern @ Fourth Wave Studios Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Reston, VA My first software internship was with Fourth Wave Studios, which is an augmented reality startup. My role during the internship was mainly focused upon researching new technologies and trying to build interesting augmented reality applications. Accomplishments: -Pitched and built an augmented reality mobile application to give users a tour of Washington D.C. -Utilized Unity and Motive.io to add augmented reality assets to locations in the capital to guide users and allow them to collect 'gems' that held facts about their current location. -Created 3d assets like the ghost of Abraham Lincoln so that users could see him in augmented reality at the Lincoln monument, and hear the Gettysburg address. -Created a 2d game where the user avoids asteroids in a rocket to practice Unity and C#. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science University of Virginia Jan 2016 – Jan 2020 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/sam-hecht-287901152 - GitHub: https://github.com/samhecht --- Source: https://flows.cv/samhecht JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/samhecht/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
