# Samiur Khan > high performance C and C++ Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/samiur I like writing simple, reliable software that performs well. I am interested in systems programming (kernel, language runtimes, drivers, compilers). To reach out to me, please email at samiurkh1n AT gmail DOT com ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Index Engines Jan 2025 – Present | Holmdel, New Jersey, United States Platform team (kernel, file system access) enabling ransomware detection ### Production Engineer @ Meta Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco Bay Area Reliability and performance improvements to WhatsApp Infrastructure. Languages: Erlang, Python, C++ ### Software Engineer @ Google Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area Work with others to ensure added data center capacity remains resilient. Languages: Go, Python, C++, C, SQL, YAML. - Wrote a fault tolerant scheduler for interactive and long running cluster testing. - Surfaced product usage metrics for internal cluster testing service to guide OKR planning and priorities. - Dabbled in kernel memory management. ### Instructional Aide for EECS 201 @ University of Michigan College of Engineering Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Ann Arbor, MI Designed and wrote autograders with other IAs, graded student assignments, ran office hours helping students learn how to learn, discover, and use tools commonly used by computer scientists like shell scripting, git, bash, IDEs/editors, build systems, package managers, debuggers, etc.. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Google Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Worked on a scheduler for a virtual data center cluster turnup service. I also worked on the Linux kernel memory management subsystem. ### Research Intern @ University of Michigan Medical School Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Ann Arbor, Michigan Improving protein structure alignment software at the Zhang Lab in the Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics department. ### Engineering Practicum Intern @ Google Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Mountain View, CA Worked on a logging system for an internal distributed data processing framework service. Built and tested data stream to tail changes occurring within the service, filtered out unnecessary data, and partitioned data. Resulted in a 93% reduction in the search space. Reduced query latency from 2 to 3 hours to less than 10 seconds. Also, designed a new, more memory efficient API to read an internal log format. ### Engineering Practicum Intern @ Google Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Mountain View, CA Working with a team to prototype an internal tool that showed animations of Google Street View data. Designed and implemented a video encoder using FFMPEG that can encode MP4s, FLVs, and WebM videos. Worked with a team to incorporate CPU benchmarking tests to verify that it was servable over HTTP requests. Deployed the video recorder with a C++ based HTTP server that can handle video generation for different input requests. ## Education ### B.S. in Computer Science University of Michigan College of Engineering Jan 2016 – Jan 2020 ### The Bronx High School of Science Jan 2012 – Jan 2016 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/samiurkhan - Website: https://samkhn.github.io --- Source: https://flows.cv/samiur JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/samiur/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
