My time at Filmstro has included introducing UX & visual design processes into the Filmstro team, to ensure we develop highly effective and usable products for our customers - as well as a full redesign of their current standalone application, to bring it up to date and make it far simpler to navigate, use and free up space to eventually incorporate new features. I implemented technologies to understand how our customers use our product offerings - and conducted solid user research to inform our design decisions & feature development. Also, I introduced new tools into the team, such as Sketch for designing, Framer for prototyping interactions, and Zeplin for precise design specifications for developer hand offs. ### Co-Founder, Developer, Designer & Marketer @ Attainment Apparel Jan 2015 – Jan 2017 | Brighton, United Kingdom Attainment Apparel is a Gym & Fitness clothing Not For profit (As of 2017) company, that aims to encourage people to train the mind & body equally. Clothing for physical fitness, meditation app for mental fitness, and each sale contributes to a mental health charity. Attainment is a brand that me and Ollie Downey have recently started, using my knowledge of design, the web, e-commerce and SEO - and his knowledge of the gym & what gym goers want from their fitness clothing. I've personally built the website using the Shopify platform (HTML, CSS, Javascript with JSON and templating, otherwise known as Liquid templating) and the branding, been involved in clothing printing and manufacturing processes as well as a wide range of marketing practices to spread awareness of the brand. As well as building the site, I'm also constantly maintaining it and using A/B testing to aid and develop further knowledge in conversion based design patterns. I'm also doing a lot in digital marketing for ecommerce too - from designing comprehensive marketing campaigns using Adwords & Facebook ads, and understanding retargeting/remarketing campaigns, and designing marketing funnels to onboard customers at different stages of the buying process. Ethos: Attainment Apparel was set up to encourage coming to know yourself physically and mentally - through pushing your limits in fitness and always striving to attain the best life style one possibly can. We have taken our passion and tried to apply it into our own unique clothing, using 'The Fist' emblem, which we feel reflects the values of a person with the motivation to achieve their potential. Attainment will eventually be more than a clothing brand, but for now that's still a secret!... http://www.attainmentapparel.com ### UX & Visual/Interaction Designer @ Eclipse Financial Systems Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 UX Research, Information architecture, wireframing, and visual/interaction design for an insurance product for a client of Eclipse Financial Systems. During my time at Eclipse, I worked with Business Analysts to pull together business requirements into user stories which I then worked through with others on the team to produce a high level Information Architecture, and then to produce wireframes of the initial product. I used component based/modular design to ensure that when development came around, as much of the design was reusable as possible, in turn creating a simpler, more consistent design - and a lesser workload for developers and designers alike, in a project where time was definitely of the essence! The product itself is under an NDA, and so I cannot disclose much more here. ### Contract Front End Developer & Visual Designer @ Makemedia Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 During my time as a contract developer/designer at Makemedia, I have been involved in the Visual Design of two cutting edge big data applications, which are built/being built on the Front End using React w/ Redux. Initially I worked with Makemedias UX designers - using their clients initial brand guidelines - to produce high fidelity visual designs. I also worked with their clients to adapt their visual identity so to ensure they are at the forefront of current, intelligent design patterns, whilst maintaining their brand image. As Visual Design phases started to near completion, I moved on to developing these pieces of UI using a mix of HTML, CSS, Sass, Javascript, React.js + Redux - from building visual components, to hooking these UI components up to endpoints with real data, provided by the team of (very talented) back end developers. ### Digital Designer/Front-end Developer @ Makemedia Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Brighton, Brighton and Hove, England My time at Makemedia included the use of a variety of different skills. My title as Digital Designer & Front end web developer meant that I was involved in the creation of user interfaces using applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch. I worked to piece together with the client how the interfaces would work, to applying brand identities to wireframes, and exploring the use of typography and colour - not only to make the medium look aesthetically pleasing, but also to be functional, and to provide hierarchy within content. The majority of my time at Makemedia was spent on Front-end development. This included the use of languages: HTML, CSS, Sass, PHP platforms such as Wordpress, Javascript, Javascript frameworks such as jQuery and AngularJS. During my time working on a large scale data-driven Javascript application using AngularJS, I was not only involved with developing on the visual/responsive side of things using pattern libraries, but worked closely with back-end developers to hook up specific logic-based functionality, which really helped better bridge the gap that's sometimes found between front-end developers, and back-end developers. ### Band Manager, Marketer & Drummer @ H A R T I N G Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 I was the drummer in Harting, and managed the band from 2011 to 2014. This involved acquiring slots at events around the country, which have included venues such as The Haunt, Concorde 2, the Roundhouse (Camden), Proud Camden, De La Warr Pavillion, O2 Academy and many more - such as festivals like Meadowlands 2013, and Farrfest 2013 in London. It has also involved the digital marketing of our demo's, which I successfully promoted on many different blogs and radio stations throughout the UK and in the US, including being featured on a national radio station in Spain - with 'Innocence' - Hartings most popular track, receiving a cumulative total of over 100,000+ plays across the internet, on sites such as Soundcloud & YouTube. ### Web Design, App UX/UI Design, and Graphic design @ TagPoints Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Brighton Web Design, development, iOS application design were the main elements to this internship. I also did some social media marketing on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google + for the TagPoints brand. The work entailed designing all of the product from a CMS backend for marketers, to designing the consumer iPhone application to tie in with the CMS, as well as bug testing the real iPhone application and mocking up iPhone application designs for clients whom were interested in integrating TagPoints within their own loyalty system. The Tagpoints system that I designed has since been featured by businesses/organisations such as the BBC, Forbes, The Guardian, and CNBC and was later sold to SmartFocus. ### Web & Graphic Design (Intern) @ Scribble Digital Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Brighton I worked at the Scribble Digital Agency for a month, focusing mainly on the TagPoints project which can be seen above. ## Education ### Heathfield Community College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/samlillicrap - Portfolio: https://transcend.vision --- Source: https://flows.cv/samlillicrap JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/samlillicrap/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
