# Samuel Villavicencio > Software Engineer Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/samuelvillavicencio I'm committed to using my skills to help people. I had the chance to meet students and teachers that used classroom tools I built while at Khan Academy. At Toast I drove impact to make it easier for mom & pop restaurants to take online payments. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Weights & Biases Jan 2024 – Present ### Software Engineer 2 @ Toast Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 I worked on the Payments Digital team for nearly 3 years. Half of that was spent building integrations to expand the available payment methods for restaurant guests. In the last quarter of 2022, I led the integration of Click to Pay by translating product specs into engineering tickets and by serving as the internal scrum lead to maintain priority & velocity. I brought the integration into production at the turn of the year and processed approximately $700M in payments. In 2023, I shifted my attention to building the platform for the Simplified Payments Integration--a framework for internal and external partners to securely process payments. ### Software Engineer @ Khan Academy Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | Mountain View I was part of the team that built Khan Academy's offering for school districts. At launch, we rostered about 500k students, teachers and administrators. The organization decided to move our monolith web application to services built with Go. I was responsible for planning and executing the migration of the data models, business logic and GraphQL API for the Classroom team. In the summer of 2019, I worked closely with one mentee (he/him) on the Classroom team. After he got familiar with our best practices, I curated a list of multi-week projects he could tackle and together we decided which would strike the balance of adding value to the team and working toward his technical goals. He received and accepted a return offer as a full-time engineer on the team. ### Computer Science Tutor @ Hartnell College Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Salinas, California Area I organize regular sessions with students to discuss data structures concepts. I provide focused support in understanding the material covered by Dr. Arteaga by following the course outline and reviewing in my own time. ### Intern @ Dolby Laboratories Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | 1275 Market St. San Francisco I worked with the spatial coding platform team over the summer. I explored the prospect of objective differences between signals as an indicator of perceived audio quality. ### Intern @ Naval Postgraduate School Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | 1 University Cir. Monterey, CA Verified the accuracy of light detection and ranging systems through the comparison of models to physical measurements. ### Intern @ Hartnell College Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Salinas, California I worked with four engineering students to build a proof-of-concept robot that tracked the sun in order to increase the amount of energy captured by solar panels. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science California State University, Monterey Bay ### Associate of Arts - AA in Language and Rationality Hartnell College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/samuelvillavicencio --- Source: https://flows.cv/samuelvillavicencio JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/samuelvillavicencio/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
