# Sandeep Muthu > SSE at Epic | Ex-SDE2 at Verizon | B.Tech ECE, NIT Trichy'24 Profile: https://flows.cv/sandeepmuthu I’m an engineer passionate about building secure, scalable systems that make a real-world impact. With a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a minor in Computer Science from NIT Trichy, I’ve worked across research labs and industry—from enhancing national lab tools to supporting mission-critical infrastructure in healthcare and telecom. I have a keen interest in continuous learning and staying updated with the latest industry trends. I am eager to leverage my skills and knowledge to contribute to cutting-edge projects in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. I am currently seeking opportunities to apply my expertise and passion for technology in a dynamic and innovative environment. Let’s connect and explore how we can collaborate to drive technological advancements. ## Work Experience ### Server Systems Engineer @ Epic Jan 2025 | Verona, Wisconsin, United States At Epic, I serve as the Primary Server Systems Engineer, Technical Services Engineer, and Information Security representative for multiple healthcare organizations. I am responsible for managing and maintaining Operational Database (ODB) environments that support mission-critical healthcare applications used by clinicians, administrators, and patients nationwide. My responsibilities include orchestrating Epic and IRIS upgrades, applying Linux patches, performing system performance tuning, and handling both planned and unplanned maintenance windows with zero tolerance for downtime. I actively respond to critical incidents and security escalations, implement secure SFTP solutions, and ensure systems comply with best practices in data privacy and access control. I also contribute to internal development efforts by writing automation scripts and managing configurations improving efficiency across multiple technical workflows. ### Software Development Engineer II @ Verizon Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Bengaluru, Karnataka, India At Verizon, I worked on modernizing Field Operations systems by contributing to the development of robust backend services and scalable full-stack applications. My role involved close collaboration with cross-functional teams to streamline network operations and improve system reliability. I developed and maintained APIs using Java and Spring Boot, wrote unit tests with Mockito, and helped evolve legacy systems into cloud-native architectures. On the frontend, I contributed to features using React and Angular, enhancing user workflows and accessibility. I also participated in Agile sprints to ensure timely delivery of high-impact features. ### DOE SULI - Spring Research Intern @ Argonne National Laboratory Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Lemont, Illinois, United States During my internship at ANL, I provided technical support for the DOE’s Technology Integration Program, focusing on the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles to reduce petroleum use. I played a key role in developing and integrating advanced features in the AFLEET Online tool using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Svelte. My contributions included dynamic data handling, user input management, and implementing a new copy/paste functionality. Additionally, I designed and implemented a robust testing framework using Vitest for unit testing and Playwright for end-to-end application testing, ensuring high reliability and performance of the application across multiple platforms. This experience enhanced my skills in software development, testing, and systems integration, and reinforced my ability to deliver innovative solutions in a research-driven environment. This work was supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Science, Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) under the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program, mentored by Andrew Burnham. ### NSF REU - Summer Research Intern @ USC Information Sciences Institute Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Marina del Rey, California, United States During my research project, I delved into the security intricacies of Internet tunnels, which are designed to encapsulate and route network traffic indirectly. While these tunnels are instrumental in addressing various networking challenges, such as transitioning from IPv4 to IPv6, I identified that they could be exploited when not properly authenticated. Through hands-on experimentation, I successfully demonstrated how malicious entities could spoof IP addresses and inject unauthorized packets into these tunnels using tools like Scapy. By analyzing real-world network traffic and orchestrating lab simulations, I underscored the urgent need for enhanced security protocols, particularly focusing on authentication and encryption, to fortify these tunneling protocols against potential breaches. Work performed under REU Site program at University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering - Information Sciences Institute supported by NSF grant #2051101, mentored by Dr. John Heidemann and Yuri Pradkin. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Yavar.AI Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 At Yavar Tech Works, I designed and developed performance testing architecture for a network orchestration platform. My responsibilities included building a load testing infrastructure for back-end testing using k6 and modifying the existing front-end testing infrastructure to enhance efficiency and incorporate additional transactions for End-to-End tests using Cypress. Additionally, I created workflows and developed code for performance testing a new website before its production launch. I also prepared comprehensive internal documentation for all three completed projects. This role allowed me to hone my skills in performance testing, infrastructure development, and technical documentation, contributing to the overall improvement of testing processes and product reliability. ### Subject Matter Expert in Computer Science @ Chegg India Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 I worked as a Freelance Tutor responsible for answering and solving questions asked by high school/college students across the world in the subject of computer science. ## Education ### Bachelor of Technology - BTech National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli ### Middle School & High School The PSBB Millennium School ### Elementary School Hemlock Creek Elementary School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/sandeepmuthu - GitHub: https://github.com/d33psan - Portfolio: https://d33psan.github.io/portfolio - Portfolio: https://google.qwiklabs.com/public_profiles/5e5fa39f-c0cf-4399-b4e7-9a319866f935 - Email: mailto:sandeepmuthu@yahoo.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/sandeepmuthu JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/sandeepmuthu/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-18
