Hi, I'm Sarah and based in Brooklyn, NY, where I’m pursuing my Master of Industrial Design at Pratt Institute. Before graduate school, I studied electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and worked as a software engineer for three years.
 
My experiences in the tech industry, life in one of the world’s most diverse and globally connected cities, and upbringing across different landscapes have all shaped my awareness of the dualities and limitations of digital products in everyday life. These perspectives guide my approach to creating designs that rebuild trust in instincts and foster sustainable relationships between identities, environments, and communities.
 
My work centers on bridging products and people, ensuring that modern innovations are grounded in human values. I see design as a celebration of the human experience, and my process involves deep explorations of people and systems to uncover shared insights that lead to elegant, meaningful, and lasting designs.

### Teaching Assistant @ Girls Who Code

-Teaching assistant for a summer programming class of 22 female high school students under Girls Who Code, a non-profit organization that seeks to close gender gap in STEM and encourage women to pursue tech.
-Worked with our Autodesk partners to arrange speakers, plan tech trips, arrange special events, and provide career mentors for students.
-Teaching students basic programming concepts, Python, data science, robotics, web development, and eventually helping with final projects using the principles learned in the curriculum.

Acousto-Optics Virtual Implants Research 
-Researching under Carnegie Mellon University ECE Professor Maysam Chamanzar  
-Innovating ways in optogenetic neuron stimulation\imaging with light beams non-invasive on brain tissue that penetrate deep enough into the brain. 
-Applying ultrasonic waves to guide and define the direction and magnitude of light beams and testing the neural stimulation on worm and mice brains. 
-Currently experimenting on genetically modified worms to test the neural stimulation from the virtual implants and modifying the virtual implants as necessary to stimulation.
