Submitty (https://submitty.org)- A Rensselaer Center for Open Source (RCOS) project.
Submitty is an open source programming assignment submission system used by RPI and other universities.
I am a full stack developer on the team, contributing to a large and open source codebase.
My responsibilities include designing and implementing new features along with fixing issues and reviewing code.
I helped develop a system to automatically assign students their exams once graded by scanning QR codes; which saved hours of time spent manually assigning students their work by a TA or instructor.
The QR code scanner was then extended to automatically scan handwritten student ID numbers through an OCR model and computer vision. Instructors no longer need to associate student IDs with the QR which sometimes is not feasible in all classes
I helped built a grade inquiry system which allows students to directly ask their grader about any issues with their work, facilitating faster communication between both groups.
