# Shane Canfield > Software Engineer at DSPTCH Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/shanecanfield Master's graduate in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis with over 3 years of professional software engineering experience. Undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Kenyon College. Currently working as a Software Engineer building backend systems for DSPTCH and empowering the future of renewable energy technology at RNWBL. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ DSPTCH Jan 2023 – Present ### Software Engineer @ RNWBL Jan 2023 – Present ### Software Engineer @ RNWBL Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Software Engineer @ WEX Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Remote ### Research Assistant, Computational Chemistry @ Kenyon College Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Gambier, Ohio Investigated novel computational research into light-activated biomolecular systems with Visiting Professor Dr. John Payton Ph.D. During this research, I used quantum chemistry software packages like Avogadro, Gaussian, and OpenMolcas, and wrote Python scripts to organize my virtual working environment and rapidly submit calculations to the cloud. ### Research Assistant, Computational Chemistry @ The Ohio State University Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Columbus, Ohio In a previous study, it was demonstrated that the scoring of structures generated from protein–protein docking could be improved with the inclusion of SID data; however, this work relied on knowledge of the correct tertiary structure and only built full complexes for a few cases. Here, we performed docking using input structures that require less prior knowledge, using homology models, unbound crystal structures, and bound+perturbed crystal structures. This lead to more accurately predicted tertiary structures and a paper published in Analytical Chemistry on May 17th. ### Research Assistant, Biochemistry @ The Ohio State University Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Columbus, Ohio Area I worked with Dr. Dehua Pei as his lab explores their discovery of efficient cell-penetrating peptides (CPP). My job is to synthesize a “scaffold” molecule which will allow Pei's Lab to conjugate an efficient CPP to a drug molecule and measure its therapeutic effects. ### Program Director @ Alice Noble Ice Arena Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Wooster, Ohio Fundamental responsibilities included maintaining the safety of over 30 clients (children ages 5 through 11). Additionally, managed work hours and event planning for program staff (size of 10), maintained correspondence with both customers and local businesses, and electronically managed billing invoices. ### Program Staff @ Alice Noble Ice Arena Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 | Wooster, Ohio, United States ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Computer Science, Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management Washington University McKelvey School of Engineering ### Bachelor of Arts - BA in Biochemistry Kenyon College ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Washington University in St. Louis ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/canfield1 - Portfolio: https://scanf13ld.github.io/personal/ --- Source: https://flows.cv/shanecanfield JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/shanecanfield/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
