Gold Engine | A scaled RESTful API to support an e-commerce retail portal

• Developed and applied a benchmarking suite to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize database queries
• Created a data access layer that executed complex queries in .3ms across all API endpoints, a reduction from a baseline of 1s
• Deployed a PostgreSQL server to AWS and executed an ETL process  on a dataset containing 15 million cumulative rows
• Horizontally scaled a microservice architecture using an NGINX load balancer and Redis caching
• Used profiling and stress-testing with k6 and Loader.io to guide performance optimizations, increasing throughput from 100 RPS to 10,000 RPS with +3ms latency increase over network latency and 0% error rate.
