# Shantanu Das > Staff Software Engineer / TLM at Google Location: San Jose, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/shantanudas With more than 10 years in the tech industry, I’ve honed my expertise in creating security solutions that are both effective and user-centric. My approach prioritizes making security seamless and intuitive, aiming to integrate it so smoothly that it feels almost invisible. I have led teams in crafting solutions for complex hyperscale environments, gaining extensive experience in bootstrapping protocols to securely provision and set up perimeters in both physical and virtual infrastructures, as well as building SaaS offerings. My work on projects like Azure Platform Integrity, confidential computing, and Google Zero Trust has deepened my understanding of best practices and common challenges in technology product development. ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ Google Jan 2022 – Present | Sunnyvale, California, United States Responsible for leading designs and managing the Chrome Security Insights team - Product offering aims to empower administrators with valuable insights into high-risk activities and data exfiltration attacks. ### Senior Software Engineer- Azure Confidential VMs @ Microsoft Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Greater Seattle Area Participated as a core member of the design team for Confidential VMs, developing the full disk encryption protocol utilizing TPM protectors. Established the provisioning process for vTpms in Confidential VMs and wrote designs for leveraging vTpm identity to attain an end-to-end hardware root of trust. This integration empowered customers with the ability to manually validate that their workloads were running on Confidential VMs or use the Microsoft Azure Attestation Service to achieve the same. ### Software Development Engineer 2 - Azure Trusted VMs @ Microsoft Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | Greater Seattle Area Served as an architect for the Azure trusted VM project, contributing to the design and leading a team to deliver the provisioning of Trusted VMs with virtual TPMs. Additionally, integrated with the Microsoft Azure Attestation Service and developed protocols to transmit attestation-related data to the security center, enabling the provision of attestation reports and remediation measures for policy violations. To make Trusted VMs enabled by default in Azure, we developed secure pre-provisioning flows and AK injection techniques. This accelerated the vTPM provisioning process for TVMs, ensuring accurate identification of a vTPM provisioned AK and AK certificate to a Microsoft root CA. This was a crucial step in making Trusted VMs a default feature in Azure. ### Software Engineer - Azure Platform Integrity @ Microsoft Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 Designed the PKI infrastructure and policy engine for Azure Host Attestation. Azure hosts are provisioned by verifying their hardware reports generated by the TPM. Constructed a hyper-scale Attestation service that operates alongside the CA service to validate attestation reports, enforce policies, and establish identity using the hardware root of trust. Led the development of platform integrity tools for Azure Host machines. These binaries ran on all Azure node machines and were responsible for enforcing code integrity using dynamic policies based on machine type. ### Software Engineer Internship, Saffon AI @ Intel Corporation Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Santa Clara Worked in Cognitive AI at Saffron Technology Group. Developed classification, anomaly detection solutions for customer use cases. The saffron AI engine can analyze data in different configurations. Developed a tool that uses cross validation techniques to assess the right saffron configuration for a given data set. This helps data scientist to quickly assess which saffron configuration will work well for a customer use case. ### Software Engineer Internship @ Electronic Arts (EA) Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Redwood City California Worked with the Pogo Team. Was responsible for developing new features in the SDK through which existing HTML5 Pogo Games could be converted to native Android and iOS apps. Developed a HTML5 puzzle game which should be released by the end of the year. ### Senior Software engineer @ Sony India Software Center Pvt Ltd Jan 2011 – Jan 2015 | Bangalore I began my professional career as an engineer at Sony India. At the end of the Graduate Engineer’s Training, I was selected for a six month graphics training after which I joined the Natural UI project. During this stint, I was responsible for demonstrating the feasible use case of new technologies by implementing prototype applications for TV, Android and PS4. My work comprised of applications on augmented reality, gesture control, simple human interactive games and natural user interfaces. My role in the project required me to come up with new interactive user interfaces and to pro-actively lookout for new technologies and ideas that can enrich user experience. Our team was also responsible for implementing several voice recognition UI prototypes for the PS4. After NUI project, I worked as a Chromium Engineer at Sony India. My profile required me to optimize the graphics engine of chromium by analyzing, adding new features and modifying existing ones with better performing algorithms. ### ASIC Verification @ CVC Pvt. Ltd Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 Worked as a trainee. Completed course on VLSI verification using system verilog and OVM. Projects Completed:- 1.Creation of a master verification IP for an APB 2.0 slave in system verilog and OVM. 2.Creation of an end to end verification IP for I2C in system verilog and OVM. ## Education ### Master’s Degree in Entertainment Technology/ Computer Science Carnegie Mellon University ### B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology - SMU ### Science Delhi Public School Numaligarh ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/shantand - Portfolio: http://www.shantanudas.co.in --- Source: https://flows.cv/shantanudas JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/shantanudas/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-12
