I competed in a lot of international math contests in high school, tackling problems that usually required hours of critical thinking and rigorous reasoning as opposed to rote arithmetic. - Startup of 12 employees building distributed bitmap indexes in Go that compress big data from terabytes to gigabytes and reduce query time from hours to sub-seconds
- Independently researched and implemented consistent hashing algorithms for distributed systems from academic papers, decreasing the peak-to-average load ratio of hot nodes from 1.50 to 1.05
- Created internal tool to analyze accuracy and performance regression in code versions, enabling faster development to deployment times for engineers
- Worked under Director of Engineering to brainstorm and discuss relevance of my projects to company’s overall goal and participated in daily standup with other engineers
- Discovered and deployed fixes for critical software bugs that created incorrect results for multiple database queries
