# Sharath Srikanth Chellappa > Senior Software Engineer @ Microsoft | NVIDIA | CMU | Aruba | Cisco Location: Cupertino, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/sharathsrikanthchellappa I am a Software Developer at Microsoft, working on the Baremetal Platform team of Azure Linux (Linux Distro of Microsoft). I contribute towards building the Virtualization Platform (working majorly on kubernetes operators, device-plugins, containerd, shim, kubevirt, kata-containers, libvirt, qemu-kvm, MSHV and cluster-api) for customers to run their workloads on with a focus on control plane resource optimization and resource scheduling. During my time at NVIDIA, I was a Software Developer, working on the NGN Platform, which provides GPU as a Service (IaaS) on the Cloud, enabling a Cloud-Native Infrastructure. I have completed my Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University with focus on Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing and Computer Networking. I have 2 Patent Grants from my time with Aruba in the Network Security space. I am constantly exploring cutting-edge technologies and pushing the boundaries of cloud infrastructure and distributed computing and am eager to contribute to innovative projects that redefine scalability, security, and efficiency in the cloud. If you're working on an exciting challenge in these domains, let's connect and collaborate! ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Microsoft Jan 2025 – Present | Mountain View, California, United States ### Software Engineer 2 @ Microsoft Jan 2022 – Jan 2025 | Mountain View, California, United States Building Baremetal Platform for Azure Linux. - Working on all things virtualization related (KubeVirt, Kata Containers, Containerd) as part of the Baremetal Platform team in Azure Linux. - Contributor to Azure Linux (https://github.com/microsoft/azurelinux). ### Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platform @ NVIDIA Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Santa Clara County, California, United States • Worked on integrating multinetwork policies and network policies into the end to end Tenant Controller framework. ### Software Engineer, Cloud Platform @ NVIDIA Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Santa Clara County, California, United States Currently a Software Engineer working on NVIDIA GPU Network (NGN) which provides Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for other NVIDIA products like GeForce NOW and Omniverse • Contributed to internal Kubernetes Operator Development to download and distribute images across Kubevirt VMs spun up by data center tenants. • Designed and developed the end-end Tenant Controller framework to mimic VMI, Pod and Service creation on Kubernetes, mimicking NVIDIA’s Game Streaming Service, creating real world client style controller for development. • Contributed to consensus in internal OVN kubernetes implementations by analyzing and tuning RAFT timeouts and developing framework to introduce network disconnections and check resiliency of the datacenter on the fly. • Built framework to understand behavior of Open Source components like ETCD, Prometheus and Thanos with scale and stress, providing suggestions for fine tuning infrastructure components during deployment in datacenters. • Worked on designing and developing SharedIndexInfomers to act as reference implementations for Data Center Clients like Omniverse, GeForce Now to analyze and react to KubeVirt VM changes of phase and state in order to reduce list latency on the Kubernetes API Server ### Graduate Research Assistant @ Carnegie Mellon University Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Greater Pittsburgh Area Worked as a Summer Research Assistant part of Professor Vyas Sekar's Team at CyLab, Carnegie Mellon University. • Analyzed TCP stack and built software to penetration test the TCP Stateful implementation of Asus RT N12, TP-Link WR740N, Firewall rules of Snort IDS and Smoothwall Firewall. This led to a discovery of a vulnerability in TCP Stack of Asus RT N12 router. • Designed and implemented a DNS Server based on DNSMasq improving the Lookup times by 67 percent for Amplification Scanning. Setup & Designed Amplification Attacks for BitTorrent DHT, Steam and CLDAP on AWS. ### Systems/Software Engineer II @ Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Bengaluru Area, India R&D Point of Contact to the Sales Team for Ansible Playbook Support on HPE Network Devices. ### Systems/Software Engineer I @ Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Bengaluru Area, India • Feature Owner for DHCP Relay, Logging, Ping and Traceroute Features for the Data Center, Core and Access Switches on the Aruba OS Platform. • Automation Lead for all the Application and Supportablity Features for all Platforms. • Have a basic understanding of Harvard and Monmouth customer configurations as part of being a backup engineer for Customer-Centric Network Setup. • Awarded promotion and performance award within 14 months in the role. ### R&D Intern @ Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Bengaluru Area, India • Worked on the Development of the IPSecurity Feature on the Aruba Devices responsible for the encryption of the Source and Destination Addresses of Packets being transmitted on the network. • Developed a Dashboard using the ELK Stack of Data Analytics for recording Memory and CPU Utilization on the Box. • Tasked with understanding customer topologies like CDCR, Qualcomm and BMW, and devised mechanisms to integrate Aruba Devices in the same enabling functionality. ### Technical Intern @ Cisco Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 • Built a system to monitor and locate a person using the Bluetooth Signal Strength from his personal device and pinpoint his exact location in a room. This data collected was also sent to a server which would allow for remote analysis of the user's position and also allow for visitor analytics. • Built the ThingQbator Thingventory site (a site for inventory management) used by ThingQbators at all locations. ### Intern @ Pollinate Group Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Bengaluru Area, India • My work involved mapping out communities which consisted of small cluster of families located all around the city in tents made of tarpaulin and physically visiting them in order to understand the number of families in such communities without basic commodities such as electricity and water supply. • My additional job was to distribute Solar lights to the families in these communities which would provide them with light for the night, to replace candles as their source of light in the night. I visited close to 110 such communities to understand their plight and their means of livelihood. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering Carnegie Mellon University ### Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communications Engineering PES University ### High School National Public School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/sharath-srikanth-chellappa - Website: https://github.com/sharath-sri-chellappa - Website: https://github.com/sharath-srikanth-chellappa --- Source: https://flows.cv/sharathsrikanthchellappa JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/sharathsrikanthchellappa/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
