The primary inspiration for me to be a part of this assignment was that it involved working with scientists at ISRO. As a part of the project, we were to develop an interactive map that showed the distribution of rainfall across the state of Andhra Pradesh. The distribution was not merely the amount of rainfall but involved calculating a Standard Precipitation Index(SPI 3), which is considered as a standard index for measuring precipitation. Our guide and mentor at ISRO Dr. C S Murthy allowed a lot of creative freedom as to what technology we use to develop the application. In the seven months that we worked on this project at ISRO, we were able to successfully develop a complete system that was capable of visualizing 30 years of rainfall data as a color-coded map of Andhra Pradesh. The application also included several other modules that contained intuitive charts that aided scientists in taking better decisions by analyzing the data faster. Project Deliverables: • Developed and deployed a full-scale web application, Comprehensive Drought Hazard Analysis • The project involved processing of over 30 years of rainfall data into meaningful statistics and visualizing the results • Standard Precipitation Index (SPI), the most commonly used index to normalize rainfall, was calculated as a part of the project • Developed interactive maps, charts and consolidated reports using PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaFX • The complete application is built using various open source APIs like OpenLayers, Map Server, Twitter Bootstrap, Apache ## Education ### Master’s Degree in Business Analytics and Information Systems University of South Florida Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 ### Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Engineering Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology Jan 2009 – Jan 2013 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/shrivardhanrao --- Source: https://flows.cv/shrivardhan JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/shrivardhan/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
