# Simeng Wang > UCL Mechanical Engineering graduate University of Cambridge MPhil in Energy Technologies graduate Location: London, England, United Kingdom Profile: https://flows.cv/simeng Simeng Wang is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about engineering excellence. She graduated with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from UCL and a MPhil in Energy Technologies from the University of Cambridge. Her academic journey has been marked by a strong focus on innovative research, and her final year project of using mechanical methods to investigate the morpho-functional aspects of cephalopod beaks and their role in prey capture and consumption went for publication and shed light on the understanding of cephalopod diets. She also developed solid programming and data analysis skills through her master’s research project for optimising large wind farm power output efficiency using field data. She organised and processed 3 years of time-series wind and power data in Python and generated diverse data visualisation tools such as quiver plots, wind roses and heatmaps to demonstrate the practical wake effects among adjacent wind turbines. Beyond academic achievements, Simeng is also actively engaged in various extracurricular activities. She participated in the Cambridge University Riviera Racing team, where the team designed and built a hydrogen fuel cell and battery-hybrid catamaran to compete in the 2024 Monaco Energy Roat Challenge. She also volunteered in the fundraising team at Ronald McDonald House Charity, where she organised events and pub quizzes to raise funds for family members with children in medical care. These experiences honed her exceptional problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills. She is eager to use her skills and expertise to help people and tackle real-world challenges. ## Work Experience ### Product planning engineer @ BYD UK Jan 2025 – Present ### Mandarin Tutor @ Superprof Jan 2020 – Jan 2024 | London, England, United Kingdom • Flexibility: Designed three lesson structures: basic, independent and proficient for students with different language backgrounds • Microsoft Office applications: Employ various teaching methods and materials such as self-designed PowerPoint with animation, OneNote for session highlights, Excel table for lists of pinyin and story books with real life conversation to help students improve Mandarin from every aspect including listening, speaking, reading and writing • Analytical thinking: Give constructive feedbacks for iterative learning ### Hydrogen fuel cell engineer @ Cambridge University Riviera Racing Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Cambridge, England, United Kingdom ### Student stuff cafe assistant @ Students' Union UCL Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | Greater London, England, United Kingdom ### Active Bystander workshop leader @ Students' Union UCL Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### LEIC coordinator @ UCL Energy Society Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Global Fintech Intern @ CFTE - Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 ### UPCSE Transition Mentor @ UCL Centre for Languages and International Edication Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | London, England, United Kingdom • Communication: Maintained contact with mentees by email, signposted appropriate support services and helped them be familiar with online learning, assessments and university lives • Design and time management: Planned and led ten sessions on a weekly basis to keep mentees engaged and address their needs ## Education ### Masters in Energy technology University of Cambridge ### Bachelor of Engineering - BE in Mechanical Engineering UCL ### UCL ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/simeng-wang-4799211b6 --- Source: https://flows.cv/simeng JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/simeng/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
