# Simon Peter > Founding Eng @ Console Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/simonpeter ## Work Experience ### Founding Engineer @ Console Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States We’re building trainable IT agents with a deep understanding of your systems and workflows. As a result, we’re already able to automate 50%+ of the types of support requests that a typical Tier 1 IT support agent would otherwise have to handle. We're hiring across the board so reach out if you're interested in joining an early-stage startup that's already seeing significant enterprise use! ### Software Engineer, AI Product @ Tome Jan 2023 – Jan 2025 | San Francisco, California, United States Working across the stack to build out our new Sales Research agent - from our document citation system and few-shot tooling to our experimentation workflows and performant React frontend. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Affirm, Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco, California (IPO January '21) Led the development of a backend state machine library used to orchestrate all of Affirm’s core workflows - from Identity & Checkout to Payments & Loan Modification. Designed features like state machine versioning, reusability, localization, and testing utilities to enable more standardized and rapid feature development. Owned the API microservice which backed all of Affirm’s frontend workflows. Responsibilities included establishing a CI/CD process to coordinate releases of a legacy codebase shared between several products, scaling the supporting Kubernetes infrastructure for peak traffic days like Black Fridays & Prime Days, and being the primary triage person during critical product launches. Individually built various full-stack features in our checkout flow like voluntary downpayments using React & Flask. Designed A/B tests to gauge the effectiveness of changes on loan conversion and inform future product roadmaps. Drove large cross-functional initiatives, like building a reusable BNPL virtual card, across product, design, frontend and backend teams. Led projects end-to-end, from architecture definitions & Gantt chart estimations to UAT plans & monitoring strategies. Mentored new employees, both college grads and industry hires, often pair programming to illustrate how to be impactful in an imperfect codebase and rapidly changing product requirements. Original member of the Affirm Cares Tech Ed & Training Committee, facilitating an Intro to Coding session between CollegeTrack high school students & Affirm engineers. ### Software Engineer @ SoFi Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco, California (IPO June '21) Built end-to-end features in a Kotlin/Spring and Typescript/React stack for our new SoFi Relay product that delivers automated financial advice: - Financial account connection and syncing flow - Spending by Category charts - Transaction recategorization features ### Software Engineer @ Clara Lending Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco, California, United States (Acquired by SoFi Feb '18) Worked on the internal state based rules engine in Scala to shepherd a mortgage application through the underwriting workflow. ### Software Engineer @ Avitas Systems, a GE Venture Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area One of the original developers in a new team funded by GE Ventures to use drones to automate inspections of assets in rail, gas, and energy. Worked closely with inspectors to build an image reviewing application in Polymer to display problems identified by the drone, and enable inspectors to zoom in and annotate additional areas of interest. Designed and implemented the image and video ingestion Java microservices for the inspections platform, along with a Web Worker based web app to simultaneously upload and process media from a drone in the field. ### Software Engineer @ GE Digital Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Greater Chicago Area Member of a rotational program in different software engineering roles across GE's businesses. Decomposed our monolithic .NET Analytics engine into several Spring microservices communicating over a token passing pattern on RabbitMQ to overcome the performance limitations of a single desktop installation. Built an Angular1/Express app to allow different teams to dynamically start and schedule their AWS EC2 instances in order to bring down usage costs. ### Software Engineering Intern @ GE Digital Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Greater Chicago Area Implemented XY Scatter Plots, a major feature for the Q3 release of our .NET client application, that enabled users to pull data from two different machines and analyze their relationships together. ### Software Engineering Intern @ GE Digital Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | Greater Chicago Area Designed and developed an Excel Add-in for a customer that intelligently parsed and migrated their equipment data into our analytics software. Modified the analytics software's Data Collector to detect when connectivity issues arise, and then retrieve short ranges of the missing data during subsequent poll cycles so as to not overload the runtime engine. ### Computer Vision Software Developer @ Aerospace Robotics and Control Laboratory Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Wrote computer vision software with OpenCV to assist a quadrocopter in autonomously navigating over bodies of water. Focused on using the reflections over the water to interpolate the quadrocopter's altitude, and tracked contours of objects to determine the position. ## Education ### B.S in Computer Science University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ### San Mateo High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/speter52 --- Source: https://flows.cv/simonpeter JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/simonpeter/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
