# Sonia Prashant > Product Designer at Amuse Labs | Architecture & Human-Computer Interaction Researcher @ Carnegie Mellon University Location: San Jose, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/soniaprashant Product designer with a background in architecture, human computer interaction, and business, bringing a systems thinking approach to digital products. I currently work at Amuse Labs where I collaborate with product managers and engineers to design dashboards, onboarding experiences, and engagement features for publishers using the PuzzleMe platform. My work focuses on identifying where users experience friction and translating those insights into thoughtful, shippable product improvements. I enjoy working at the intersection of design, product, and technology, especially on tools that help people create, communicate, and work more effectively. My background in architecture and 3D modeling also gives me a strong foundation in spatial thinking, visual systems, and problem solving across both digital and physical design. ## Work Experience ### Product Designer & Customer Success Specialist @ Amuse Labs Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States 1. Owned design and support for puzzle creation workflows used by publishers including Scientific American, San Francisco Standard, The Globe and Mail, and Billboard, and assisted with puzzle workflow integrations for the LA Times app. 2. Design and improve internal tools, dashboards, and creator-facing systems that support puzzle publishing, analytics, and operational workflows across the PuzzleMe platform. 3. Partner with product and engineering teams to streamline publishing workflows, troubleshoot product issues, and ship improvements that make creator tools more efficient and scalable. ### Product Designer @ Amuse Labs Jan 2024 – Jan 2026 | San Francisco, California, United States 1. Designed new games creator workflow, improving usability by 300% increase in the number of puzzles created per day (150 -> 600), within a 6-month period. 2. Responsible for end-to-end user research which led to a 900% increase in product feedback. Collaborated with product and engineering to improve creator-facing tools and streamline publishing processes. 3. Created branded demos that helped the sales teams pitch prospective clients including National Geographic, New Yorker and Volkswagen. ### Researcher @ CMU Human-Computer Interaction Institute Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Co-Author of published paper: "Passive Wearable Microstructures as Adaptable Interfaces for the Physical Environment". Our objective was to we create a wearable interface that empowers users to adjust perceived material properties. 1. Designed digital diagrams for paper submission using Rhino 7 & Fusion360. 2. Constructed physical prototypes of modular connection techniques. ### Researcher @ CMU Human-Computer Interaction Institute Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Our goal was to create a programmable mesh that shortens the feedback loop between the design process and the iteration process by creating rapid physical prototypes 1. Created digital iterations of the parametric prototypes using Rhino 7, Grasshopper, and the Adobe Creative Cloud 2. Created physical prototypes that utilized a range of methods to optimize node manipulation techniques and control strategies for programmable meshes with curved surfaces Researched under Dr. Scott Hudson & HCI Researcher Jesse T. Gonzalez ### Researcher @ CMU Human-Computer Interaction Institute Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Co-Author of Publication "Constraint - Driven Robotic Surfaces, At Human Scale" Our goal was to create a constraint-driven robotic wall that can perform robotic functions when necessary, but disappear back into the built environment when not in use. 1. Created a semi-modular material, consisting of multiple independent columns, each comprising seventeen double-jointed cells. 2. Created renders / 3D Models / Animations of the real - world applications of the robotic materials using Rhino 7, V-Ray, & Enscape 3. Published and presented at UIST Conference 2023 (Awarded Best Demo) ### Head Booth Chair @ Carnegie Mellon University Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Booth is one of the biggest showpieces of Spring Carnival. Student organizations build multi-story structures around chosen themes. For 3 consecutive years, we built booths that ranged from 1-2 story structures with themes such as Candy Crush, Phineas and Ferb, and Zodiac Signs. 1. Led a team of 80 people in 2024 in the design and construction of three 20’ tall buildings for CMU’s annual Spring Carnival. 2. Created detailed blueprints and oversaw the construction process, ensuring safety and adherence to design, electrical, and construction standards. 3. Designed the interiors to be engaging and interactive. Awarded “Safety Award” in 2022 for excellence in risk management and construction safety. ### Private Tutor @ GoPeer Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 1.
