# Spencer Drakontaidis > Engineering Manager, Infrastructure at Semgrep Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/spencerdrakontaidis I’m a Software Engineer turned Engineering Manager on Semgrep's Infrastructure team. I enjoy working on and leading high performing teams who automate and secure the operations of a variety of systems. In my free time, I hone my skills by tinkering with Kubernetes and networking via a homelab, writing side projects in various languages, and finding creative ways to apply technology to solve problems. I also volunteer as a firefighter, EMT, and IT support for the Morningside Volunteers in Prince George’s County, Maryland. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Semgrep Jan 2022 – Present ### Software Engineer @ The Aerospace Corporation Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 ### Cadet @ United States Military Academy at West Point Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | West Point, New York ### Contingent Worker @ Facebook Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Menlo Park, CA As an intern sponsored by USMA, I worked in Facebook's Security division in their eCrime team. I worked on a separate project, adding features to and correcting bugs on Facebook's Capture the Flag (CTF) infrastructure. I was able to make several meaningful contributions to the CTF code base during my time there. ### Cadet S-4 (Supply Officer) for Summer Leader's Experience @ United States Military Academy at West Point Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | West Point, New York Summer Leader's Experience (SLE) is an immersive summer camp for students considering applying to USMA. For two - 1 week iterations, groups of nearly 600 candidates are immersed in the cadet lifestyle to see if USMA is a good fit for them. As the S-4, I was responsible for getting all necessary supplies and land for training, ensuring that everyone was accounted for when we ate in the Cadet Mess, and requisition Boxed Meals when we were unable to eat in the Mess Hall. This job also required me to sign for thousands of dollars of equipment, including several sensitive items such as machine guns and rifles for our training. ### Second Regiment Cadet S-2 (Intelligence Officer) @ United States Military Academy at West Point Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | West Point, New York The S-2 is traditionally the intelligence head for any military unit, however, at West Point, the S-2 is in charge of several different functions for the regiment, which consists of nine companies for a total of approximately 1100 cadets. As the S-2, I was tasked with coordinating several community outreach trips to New York City, clearing all cadets for overseas travel, maintaining and enforcing health and safety standards for barracks and training, and compiling information to assign each of the nine companies a grade for their military performance over the semester. ### Intern @ Army Researh Laborabtory Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland At ARL, I worked on a project to develop a new feature for the Packbot that the U.S. Army uses primarily to defuse bombs. The robot would often tip over, requiring a soldier to flip it back onto the tracks and putting him or her in danger. Our job was to automate this process by using the robot's own arms. We performed experiments and wrote code to allow the robot to flip itself back over when it detected it was upside down. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Computer Science Stanford University Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science United States Military Academy at West Point Jan 2014 – Jan 2018 ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science United States Air Force Academy Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/spencer-drakontaidis --- Source: https://flows.cv/spencerdrakontaidis JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/spencerdrakontaidis/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
