# Stephen Zuniga > Staff Software Engineer | Tech Lead Location: Tampa, Florida, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/stephenzuniga ## Work Experience ### Staff Software Engineer @ Sprinter Health Jan 2024 – Present Tech lead of the Clinical Tools team responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the tools our clinical teams use every day of the week. * Designed, lead, and built an automated post-appointment review system which currently handles 70% of all appointments without any human involvement after we leave the patient's home. Most other appointments have issues requiring a clinical team member to call the patient or the Sprinter. * Identified a scale issue in our primary UIs, got approval to focus on it, coordinated with my team, designed a solution, and built it just as we encountered the predicted growing pains. Where we could previously only function with 500 appointments in a day, we can now support thousands. ### Technical Lead Manager @ Level Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | United States Led and managed the Member Experience team composed of a Product Manager, Product Designer, and 4 full-stack engineers building a React Native app released on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and on Web with react-native-web. Transitioned the team to a 2 week release train and sprint cadence which helped them prioritize automation and efficiency of the release process so that we could instead focus on building new features and improving product quality. Collaborated with the Product Manager and Product Designer to produce a backlog and roadmap with proper sequencing and all of the cross-team dependencies documented before we started work. Coached engineers through tough technical problems, provided long-term career guidance, and successfully negotiated for one promotion and a pay raise for two of my reports. ### Staff Software Engineer @ Level Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 | Tampa, Florida, United States Tech lead of the small but mighty Product Infrastructure team which was responsible for the shared platform of our product experiences and driving improvements to previously unowned platforms. Developed new SDKs for our frontend applications built in react and react-native to improve the developer experience of interacting with our backends, and integrating design system features. Developed SSO integration for all applications to improve security of internal tools, enable sales with certain enterprise customers, and improve the member experience. Designed and led the migration from a homemade communications platform to a durable event-based integration with customer.io that would scale better than the previous platform, improve visibility into the communications we send, migrate the responsibility of communications into the product teams, and enable many communications to be sent without engineering effort. ### Senior Software Engineer 2 @ Collective Health Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Tampa, Florida, United States Tech lead of the frontend infrastructure team which helped make the product engineers happier and more efficient by investing in tools, shared libraries, and helped design the next-generation product architecture. Improved on the micro-frontend architecture to make use of automated deployments and a clean integration with the authorization framework so we could hide micro-frontends that were not available to the logged-in user. Developed starter applications and an internal CLI that would scaffold them out so that expansion of the micro-frontend application was painless and self-documenting. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Collective Health Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Led the development of a micro-frontend framework for our internal product which split a monolithic AngularJS app into 20+ React & AngularJS apps which supported independent release cycles; more freedom to develop in a framework of your choice; and more code reuse with a shared login, navigation, and component library. Led the claims frontend team through a multi-year project to build a claims processing web app for the billions of dollars worth of medical claims processed by Collective Health. ### Software Engineer 3 @ Accusoft Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area Worked as a technical leader and expert of the entire PrizmDoc tech stack, as well as mentored the two most junior engineers in my team of 12. Defined processes and testing practices to improve overall release quality as well as prevent future regressions. Started a weekly lunch-and-learn where anyone could present topics about tech they found interesting. That meeting helped create an environment of lifetime learning as well as provide some general knowledge about technologies that we weren’t using at the time but did eventually begin because of the presentations. ### Software Engineer 2 @ Accusoft Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area Developed and maintained PrizmDoc, a zero-footprint document viewer that allows users to annotate, redact, search, and sign documents of any format. While working on the full stack, I designed and developed client side SDK APIs as well as dozens of RESTful APIs. I also rewrote a lot of our existing documentation to reduce end-user confusion, added ESLint style rules to eliminate easy-to-catch errors, and more than doubled our unit test coverage to improve developer confidence when making releases. ### Web Content Developer @ University of South Florida Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area Helped maintain a CMS with over 10,000 unique pages, developed new layouts and themes for use by all of the USF Health departments, and improved our frontend tooling to enable faster builds of our HTML templates, JS bundles, and LESS stylesheets. ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/stezu --- Source: https://flows.cv/stephenzuniga JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/stephenzuniga/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
