# Steve Katzman > Smart Contracts @ Coinbase, Professional Chiller, purveyor of fine vibes Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/stevekatzman ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer, Smart Contracts @ Coinbase Jan 2024 – Present ### Web3 Developer @ Solkat Consulting LLC Jan 2022 – Present ### EVM Lead Developer @ Angel Giving Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 - Designed and implemented a cross-chain investment platform for charity endowments leveraging a diamond proxy pattern and numerous adjacent proxies, Multi Sigs and custom integrations - Wrote extensive typescript infrastructure and tooling to test, deploy and manage the suite of contracts through their lifecycle ### Manager, Systems Integration @ Carbon3D, Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 Milestones • Led the implementation design team responsible for the flagship L1 3D printer. Successfully took system from prototype to product in highly accelerated 6-month architecture and design iteration. • Brought up and diagnosed issues with the Adidas additive manufacturing process. We grew from printing 300 midsoles in a year to today’s production of over 1,000,000 pairs annually. • Designed and led the implementation of printer behaviors critical to process efficiency, UL safety requirements and user experience. • Headed debug efforts to resolve a critical line-down manufacturing failure mode involving travelling internationally to diagnose and resolve issues. • Validated numerous system-level design changes. Features ranged from optics software control/calibration, peripheral electronics, motor control, and internal compute platform. Job functions • Lead system engineer on the company’s largest production partnership, Adidas • Manage a team of five individual contributors • Behavior implementation – designing system/software architecture changes necessary to support new hardware features. This entails gathering all proposed design changes, determining software implementation, evaluating requirements for each subsystem, tracking these changes through development, working through nuances as needed with responsible design engineers, validating the final implementation, then working with operations/manufacturing/service to understand these changes and how they affect their processes. • System debug – first point of contact for system failures. I work to diagnose issues across multiple disciplines, design tests to isolate root cause, analyze results, and then work with design engineers to resolve the issue without introducing new issues. • Validation – writing test plans and building software test tools to validate new features. ### Sr. Integration Engineer @ Carbon3D, Inc. Jan 2015 – Jan 2021 ### Mechatronics Test Engineer @ QBotix Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Menlo Park, CA MILESTONES • Designed and implemented a system recovery behavior to allow autonomous recovery and resumption of normal operation after erroneous system resets. • Contributed to significantly improved system up time through software intelligence and behavior testing and associated design feedback. Robots’ performance improved from faulting multiple times per day while incurring mechanical failures to operating for weeks at a time without behavior related faulting. • Independently organized, prepared, and ran the following tests at third party test sites: UL Certification, IP Certification, HALT, corrosion, vibration, and dynamic shock. Informed design changes from results to achieve certification and performance specifications. • Improved charger mechanical life from one month to five years through testing, development and design iterations. Project culminated with changes to component material selection and finish with an electrically conductive lubricant applied periodically during operation. JOB FUNCTIONS • Developed and executed software release testing for high-level verification of robot and controller behavior and intelligence. • Designed, built, programmed, and operated test rigs for the purpose of mechanical characterization. Then collected data, analyzed the results and collaborated with design engineers to implement changes for improved system performance and reliability. • Managed allocation, maintenance, and operation of test resources including engineering robot fleet, test fields and thermal chamber. ### Configuration Controller @ Northrop Grumman Corporation Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Sacramento/San Jose, CA - Worked with Contracts Administration to ensure timely deliveries of contractually required documents and reports. - Spearheaded tool development to handle contractual deliveries within Windchill for the implementation of Data Management processes. - Developed and released a procedure for creating and utilizing a secure, legal, electronic signature for contractual documents within Adobe Acrobat. - Officiated initial release and change notices for all business unit drawings and supporting documents through the use of PDM tool, Windchill. - Acted as a liaison between Configuration Management department and Contracts Administration for Windchill support generating CDRL/SDRL CNs. ### Project Manager @ Uranus Senior Design Project Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 | California Polytechnic State University The senior class of Cal Poly's Aerospace Engineering department worked together on designing a spacecraft to accomplish an extensive scientific mission to Uranus. The class of 44 was split up into 12 functional teams which worked together to accomplish the assigned RFP. As the project manager, I was responsible for ensuring communication between these functional teams, organizing and running meetings, allocating work, communicating with the customer, and designing/organizing presentations. Additionally worked with the Orbits functional team to design our payload's trajctories at and around the planet Uranus. This involved developing a comprehensive, iterative alogrithm for determing an efficient path around the planet's moons. This also included work for descent probe trajectories which interfaced with the re-entry aero-thermo analysis. ### Engineering Intern @ Oceaneering Jan 2010 – Jan 2011 Internship with Oceaneering Space System's, OneEVA. Sustaining engineering for all Extra Vehicular Activity Tools used aboard the ISS and Space Shuttles. - Oversaw the production of Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) handrails. Developed procedures for the fabrication and proper finishing of these ISS translation aids. - Oversaw the upgrade and recertification of three flight Modular Mini Workstation (MMWS) Gimbals. - Performed acceptance thermal testing and acceptance vibration mounting and testing on Class I flight hardware. - Wrote a test procedure to extend the shelf life of Shuttle tile repair gel brushes. - Presented Requirement change packages for EVA Tools to NASA JSC EVA Tools and Crew Aids Panel on-site at Johnson Space Center. - Oversaw the production of EVA handrails. Developed procedures for the fabrication and proper finishing of these ISS transaltion aids. - Performed problem and anomaly reporting for non-conformance EVA flight hardware. - Updated aged drawings with changes made through Drawing Change Notices. - Helped perform analysis used in MMWS Gimbal plasma abatement calculations. - Gave presentations to the senior managemt of OSS to convey my work experience, share lessons learned and improvements that could be made to their intern program. ### Physical Therapy Aide @ Evergreen Physical Therapy Jan 2006 – Jan 2008 | San Jose, California Assisted P.T.'s by teaching patients exercises, applying local e-stim and ultra-sound, whirlpool application, and routine office tasks. ### Intern @ SpringCM Jan 2008 – Jan 2008 ## Education ### B.S.
