# Steven Diniz > Software Engineer @ Amazon Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/stevendiniz I am a new grad from NC State with degrees in Computer Engineering and Economics. My goal is to always be working on challenging problems that will make society a better place for everyone using my technology and leadership skills. The three avenues in which I am working towards my goal is my day-to-day job, research, and volunteering. My day-to-day job has consisted of learning foundational principles for various subjects while in school. I focus my time on understanding the work that has been done in each subject to lead us to our current state of knowledge. This experience has improved my skill of learning, allowing me to quickly understand new topics. Outside of the classroom, I like to apply my knowledge through research. I enjoy working with applied machine learning laboratories to create novel applications of machine learning. Through this, I have learned how to traverse new, challenging problem domains to find solutions. Another valuable skill I have gained from research is clearly articulating my thoughts and process for approaching a problem. Finally, I love to give back to my community through volunteering. Previously, I served in various positions on the executive team for the NC State chapter of Consult Your Community. The goal of the organization is to provide pro-bono consulting to minority and women owned small businesses in the Raleigh-Durham area. From my time with CYC, I have learned how to balance the day-to-day operations of being on the executive board of a non-profit with continuing to create a vision for the future of the organization. I seek to continue using these three outlets to pursue improving the world on top of connecting with other like-minded individuals to join me on my journey. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer 2 @ Amazon Jan 2025 – Present | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Software Engineer 1 @ Amazon Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Software Engineer @ MIT Lincoln Laboratory Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | Lexington, Massachusetts, United States ### VP of External Affairs @ Consult Your Community Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Raleigh, North Carolina, United States Establish and grow business relationships with community partners, corporate sponsors, and clients.
