Drop me a line and say hey, I'm always willing to learn something new! ## Work Experience ### Senior Product Designer (Systems) @ Console Connect Jan 2023 – Present | Australia As the point person for Console Connect's design system, Nimbus, I embraced the challenge of elevating its overall health. My focus is on refining accessibility, usability, and fostering a more collaborative environment between design and development through enhanced guidance and governance, including: - Restructure the design system by separating core components from composed ones. - Address inflexibility by introducing better frontend development standards. - Improve communication channels between design and development teams. - Create new components in the Figma UI Kit and engineered them. - Test components with a pilot team and introduced feedback cycles. - Address accessibility issues through introducing react-aria as a headless development library. - Introduced key guidelines and restructured the Storybook IA to help developers navigate the Nimbus. ### Design Engineer @ Octopus Deploy Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 This role at Octopus Deploy is a hybrid between design and development focusing on frontend user experience (UX Engineering). My main responsibilities are helping to maintain and enhance the internal design system and working on frontend accessibility, usability and user experience. - Audit of existing Octopus Design System (user interviews, docs, competitor research) - Generated a report on complex UI issues caused through poor design health - Converted existing design system to a CMS format - Established new design token language and initial tokens for Octopus Design System - Redesigned Octopus navigation through simplification and added new components to the codebase - Created a WCAG AA colour matrix and revamped/audited accessibility of the system - Created new homepage for marketing website and worked on strategic initiatives for marketing material ### Design Engineer @ Outfit.io Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 After working as a Fullstack Outfit requested I work on both design and developer domains. Throughout this role I looked at working more across the backend and frontend looking to implement features from the end to end cycle. During this time I worked across a majority of projects including: - Global search redesign - Brand System - Font upload and storage - Version history & CSS version control Each of these projects required my to write Ruby on Rails, React, Redux and work with postgresql. During this time I worked on the UX of the application as well fixing usability bugs and consistent data bugs. ### Full Stack Engineer @ Outfit.io Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Brisbane, QLD In this role, I joined the Product team as a Fullstack Developer & Product Designer. As a part of this team, my role was to help deliver core features of our enterprise product, contribute to the frontend stack of our products and deliver high quality POCs to prove and disprove functional features. During this role I got to experience the best of both worlds and I delved deep into a variety of UX techniques focusing on user research, mock-designs and independent research as well as learning to create easy-to-use solutions to complex problems. There was a steep transition curve with this role and I had to learn a lot on my feet, making it perfect as a fast-paced learning role. For the role I upskilled in the following: - React, Redux, Version Control with Git, Webpack, Ruby on Rails, Postgresql. - Design system (chakra, storybook) - Figma, Miro, Framer & Notion - Jira, Confluence & Trello - Shape Up, Agile w/ Lean UX & Sprint Scrum methods ### Template Developer @ Outfit.io Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Australia As a template developer on the Customer Experience Team I work interdependently with a team consisting of development, marketing, sales, customer success and product design. In my role, I use and work on the SaSS platform to design products, working heavily with html, CSS, JavaScript, Markdown/Docz, UI/UX and layout design. My role has challenged me to learn the most effective way to write clean code and moved my design degree to the next level, giving me the opportunity to create unique motion designs for the company. I'm excited by this opportunity to learn and I am extremely happy with my career trajectory from this point. ### Interactive Designer - Ars Electronica Future Lab @ QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Queensland, Australia In this position I was given the opportunity to overlook a variety of jobs with QUT and help the team within a large number of interdisciplinary jobs. In this position I worked with: - Created equipment and code using Ardunio, Javascript and C++ - Visulisation of new algorithms for design process - Collaberated heavily in a team environment across seven team members and 30 members - Demonstrated videography techniques in order to create two projects using After Effects - Co-Concept creation for SoundLine (This included wireframing, illustrations, photoshop designs and 3D motion designs/storyboarding) After this role concluded we worked on AIE, an interactive artist group who use minimalistic projects to look at the world as a whole. In this role, I generated the concept, developed and branded AIE's main project "Living Walls" which participated at Ars Electronica. I was responsible for the User's Experience of the installation, including the development of an online application built by our lead engineer, the experience of the installation and the scripting (developed by our lead actress). We created this installation to highlight the complexity of living and the usefulness of space. ### Interactive Design Associate @ QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Brisbane, Australia In this role I had experience within curriculum assisting academics and staff create new course structures, content as well as interfacing with industry professionals for user research. The role included a variety of designer topics: - Research and development of outcomes for unit portfolios. - Interviews and research of industry and students to gain a real world perspective on outcomes. - Testing software from a user-oriented perspective to assess the best platform for students. - Brainstorming and course/workshop testing as well as focus groups on unit activities. - Investigation into "badging" and the legitimacy of its use for university students - Creation of a design-wide portfolio walk-through. - Information Architecture of portfolio walk-through (online), course design and visualisation. - Illustrated Graphic Creation and Video documentation for tutorials. - UX/UI design for course visualisation and walk-through documents. ### Wordpress Developer @ Space Digital Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Australia ### Graphic Designer @ UQ Marketing Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Brisbane, Australia Here I was the creator and layout drsigners of the UQ Unions (Sempa) Magazine for three issues. This included two 40 page documents and an 80 page document. In this position I developed the majority of the grids, layouts and imagery whilst collaborating with writers and the editing team of UQ to help express their goals for the magazine launch ### Junior Web Developer @ Cancer Council Queensland Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | 553 Gregory Terrace, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006 Web development placement for new and refurbished website was completed as a part of a working experience.
