# Sylvia Shiyu Zhang > Product Designer | MDes HCI @ CCA | Capstone @ UNICEF Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/sylviashiyuzhang Hi, I’m Sylvia, a product designer who loves bringing clarity, care, and connection to complex systems. Since 2022, I’ve been designing thoughtful experiences across B2B, B2C, internal platforms, e-commerce, and deep tech. I’ve led 0 to 1 projects and cross-functional collaboration across: • Redesigning a deep-tech website that led to a 15% boost in B2B inquiries • Creating an AI-powered mobility tool for sensory-sensitive teens, shared with UNICEF innovation VCs • Building a global e-commerce platform for sustainable fashion, helping connect community and culture • Leading a modular trade show system that cut production costs by 87% through physical-digital design thinking • Designing an AI workplace tool for Lenovo, merging physical and digital UX to support decision-making I work at the intersection of systems thinking, user research, and narrative design. I love working with cross-functional teams and shaping experiences that feel intentional at every touchpoint. I’m currently looking for full-time product design roles where I can keep asking better questions, designing with purpose, and building things that truly matter. Let’s connect! ## Work Experience ### Product Designer - Capstone @ UNICEF Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States I led the insight synthesis, narrative framing, and product definition for this initiative. The final concept, an equity-driven mobility solution, was presented to UNICEF's innovation partners and VCs, positioning it as a future-ready offering. Designed a digital product in partnership with UNICEF Innovation Node focused on empowering sensory-sensitive individuals to navigate public spaces with greater confidence. Synthesized insights from 40+ interviews, co-designed with teens and caregivers, and developed core user flows integrating real-time environmental data and AI-enabled planning. Produced 30+ mid-to-high fidelity wireframes and delivered a narrative-driven design deck that connected research to experience. ### Product Designer @ Neptec OS, Inc Jan 2023 – Present | Fremont, California, United States Led the end-to-end redesign of Neptec's company website, directly driving a 15% jump in inquiries from new markets. I took their complex, NDA-heavy business model and translated it into clear, accessible content, strategically to build user trust and showcase their customization chops. I bridged critical strategic gaps between sales, engineering, and business dev, running alignment meetings and iterating designs weekly based on feedback. This ensured our solutions hit both business objectives and user needs. My process included a thorough site audit, user research (analytics + usability testing), and establishing a scalable, innovative design system to lock in UI consistency and future adaptability. ### Product Designer, Physical–Digital Systems - Sponsored Studio @ Lenovo Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco, California, United States Led a cross-functional team of 4 in designing future-forward AI-powered collaboration tools for Lenovo. Translated a broad brief into a clear UX roadmap through user research, stakeholder alignment, and strategy mapping. Spearheaded the physical-digital interaction design of an AI meeting assistant, blending industrial and UX design to establish trust, presence, and personality. Prototyped a smart assistant that captured decisions in real time, improving meeting clarity and reducing redundancy — a concept later adopted for executive stakeholder presentation. ## Education ### MDes in HCI California College of the Arts ### BFA in Industrial and Product Design California College of the Arts ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/sylvia-shiyu-zhang-74ba88227 --- Source: https://flows.cv/sylviashiyuzhang JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/sylviashiyuzhang/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-08
