· Architected and deployed performant web applications to improve performance and reduce operator workload.
· Developed high-performance linux drivers for ingesting data from FPGA systems. Facilitated data movement from these boards to the control system. Interfaced with experimentalists to ensure systems provided the information to validate quantum experiments.
· Programmed in house electronics with embedded C to enable board functionality. Technologies used include SPI, I2C and an in silicon TCP/IP stack. Development tools included Arm Keil, Ulink2 debug probes, and logic analyzers.
· Worked on the rearchitecture of the software control system, focusing on support for proprietary hardware designs and high-precision timing requirements(less than 1 ns).
2021 — 2022
· Implemented software for the Electron Bunch Charge and Bunch Length diagnostic systems. These systems provide information needed to commission the new LCLS2 particle accelerator. Delivered both projects under budget and ahead of schedule.
· Engaged with designers and users to build functional user interfaces for several systems using PyQt.
2016 — 2019
Reno, Nevada, United States
· Built and wired PLC based controllers that integrate wirelessly with a SCADA system. Commissioned them with the designer. The controllers are used to run electric rubber molding presses that have 4 heat zones. The presses mold laminated bearings up to 10,000 lbs in weight. The bearings are used to seismically isolate buildings and bridges.
· Tracked down and indexed $5MM of company fixed assets. This reduced tax costs by removing written off items from the accounting system’s Fixed Asset Register.
· Prepared a feasibility study for the purchase of a $1.2MM 6 kW laser cutter. The goal was to bring the cutting of steel parts in house. Presented options to the President and the VP of Operations.
· Inventoried and sorted $60,000 of machine shop tooling and created a tracking system in Excel. This resulted in cost savings by utilizing tooling that the company already owned.
