Hi, I'm Talal! I'm currently pursuing a Masters in Computer Science at Northeastern University and will graduate in 2025. I recently graduated from Northeastern with my Bachelors in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence in 2024. 

My interests in CS include machine learning, data science, data engineering, software engineering, and PL theory. I am intrigued by the use of ML, particularly large language models, in social contexts, and am a huge fan of open source software!

● Engineered a Flask app using Python, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (CloudRun and PubSub) for replicating plates in Benchling (lab management platform), saving several hours of time.
● Developed an ER diagram generation tool of our PostgreSQL data model using Python and GraphViz.
● Created a Flask app that replaces the current plate preparation process for DNA sequencing, leading to projected savings of several 1000s of dollars and several days worth of sequencing time.
● Presented my work multiple times to my group and in front of the entire company, including leadership.
● Spearheaded an initiative to improve our team's project management by setting up a Trello instance.

### Data Engineering Co-op @ Guy Carpenter

• Worked in an Agile Data Strategy group and closely collaborated with Product Managers.
• Created a new enterprise data source for PowerBI usage data to capture usage data for 10s of thousands of users for thousands of dashboards using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and dbt.
• Developed a data orchestration framework to enable citizen data engineers to deploy production Databricks jobs in a version-controlled Github project.
• Wrote thorough unit tests for our data orchestration framework.
• Used mkdocs to create a step-by-step guide for utilizing ADF which became a go-to resource for our group.
• Utilized Azure Key Vault for storing secrets and Alation for data cataloging.
