# Tal L. > Software Engineer at Forter Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/tall I'm a Software Engineer specializing in Node.js and Python, and I'm incredibly passionate about learning and mastering new technologies. I'm also a Co-organizer of NYC Coders, a meetup group aimed at encouraging students and professionals in the industry to collaborate and build community. Like many others in my domain, my journey to software engineering wasn't a direct one. Although a degree in agriculture seems as far removed from the field as you can get, my choice in degree stemmed from a love of building, fixing, and understanding how things work, as well as solving challenging problems, all necessary traits for becoming a successful engineer. After graduating, I explored the business and sales side of tech as a Pricing Analyst and Sales Operations Analyst at a SaaS startup company, and decided I wanted to move from using and selling cutting-edge software to actually building it myself. This led me to embark on a journey into the amazing world of software engineering, graduating from Fullstack Academy in July 2019, where I will also take on my next challenge as a Teaching Fellow, helping mentor and instruct a new group of future Software Engineers. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Forter Jan 2021 – Present | New York, New York, United States ### Software Engineer @ Chubb Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Jersey City, New Jersey, United States ### Teaching Assistant @ Research Foundation of The City University of New York Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | New York, New York, United States • Reviewed and debugged students’ code from projects and workshops and provided constructive feedback • Conducted code-alongs and workshops covering subject matter from the curriculum • Acted as an Agile Technical Project Manager and Mentor for 3 teams of 3-4 aspiring Software Engineers ### Teaching Fellow @ Fullstack Academy Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | New York, New York, United States • Contribute to Fullstack Academy’s open source projects and learning management system • Review and debug students’ code from projects, workshops, labs, and tests and provide constructive feedback • Conduct code-alongs and workshops covering subject matter from the curriculum • Act as an Agile Technical Project Manager and Mentor for 8 teams of 4-6 aspiring Software Engineers • Create new educational materials and maintain existing ones • Lead algorithms, data structures, and system design reviews and whiteboarding exercises • Administer technical interviews of candidates for Fullstack Academy and Grace Hopper programs ### Flight Program Fellow @ Fullstack Academy Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | New York, New York, United States ### Bootcamp Prep Fellow @ Fullstack Academy Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | New York, New York, United States ### Immersive Program Fellow @ Fullstack Academy Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | New York, New York, United States ### Foundations Mentor @ Fullstack Academy Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | New York, New York, United States ### Sales Operations Analyst @ Automatiq Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | New York, New York, United States • Identified a bug and it’s root cause in the company’s billing system that resulted in $250K in savings • Researched and implemented an Excel driven inventory upload system to streamline client inventory management • Managed the company's Salesforce CRM to streamline client onboarding • Collected and analyzed data to create reports for C-level management on company performance across all product lines • Developed and utilized data tools to calculate penetration rates and forecast product usage together with Business Intelligence and Analytics departments ### Pricing Analyst @ Automatiq Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | New York, New York, United States • Managed multimillion-dollar live event ticket portfolios using a fully automated proprietary software • Evaluated the marketplace and competitive data to align pricing strategies within the marketplace and secure high profit margins for clients • Collaborated with Product and Support to test new features and provide feedback ### Research Assistant @ The Hebrew University of Jerusalem Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Rehovot Area, Israel Dr. Shay Covo's Research Lab, Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology;
