# Tanvir Islam > Software Engineer at Leonardo | Co-founder at Affie Location: London, England, United Kingdom Profile: https://flows.cv/tanvirislam I’m a software engineer with a real passion for tech, and I’m always working on interesting projects, both in and outside of work. In my day-to-day role, I work across backend and front end, implementing features, fixing bugs, improving existing code, and making sure what I build is reliable through solid testing. Most of my experience is with C# using WPF and XAML for building user-facing applications, alongside C++ and Python for backend work and automation/testing. Outside of my main role, I run Affie where I build websites for companies and small businesses from discovery through to delivery. A big part of that is communication and business development too, including prospecting, cold outreach, running calls and meetings, and presenting ideas clearly so clients feel confident in the direction. I enjoy a challenge, I’m determined, I learn fast, and I’m comfortable speaking with both technical and non-technical people. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Leonardo DRS Jan 2024 – Present Build and deliver backend features in C++ based on defined software requirements Debug and troubleshoot issues across services, following problems through to root cause and fix Write and maintain unit tests in gtest and run acceptance tests to keep quality high Produce clear technical notes and reports to capture changes, issues, and resolutions Collaborate with the wider team to review code, align on approach, and support releases ### Graduate Software Engineer @ Leonardo DRS Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 Developed and improved UI features using C#, WPF, and XAML, including interactive drag and drop behaviour Worked on both UI and backend tickets, implementing features and fixing defects across the application Supported code quality through refactoring, consistent standards, and code reviews Used tooling like ReSharper to keep the codebase clean and maintainable Worked in an Agile setup, translating requirements into working software across sprints and releases Strengthened testing practices by writing and running tests and supporting smoother release builds ### Private Tutor @ Private Tutor Jan 2019 – Jan 2024 | United Kingdom Provided 1:1 and small-group tutoring in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Arabic Broke down complex topics into simple steps and adapted teaching style to each student’s level and goals Planned lessons and revision schedules, set homework, and tracked progress over time Supported exam preparation with past papers, technique coaching, and targeted practice on weaker areas Communicated regularly with students and parents to share progress and adjust learning plans Helped students build confidence, improve study habits, and strengthen problem-solving skills ### Demonstrator @ Queen Mary University of London Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 Supported lab sessions and tutorials by guiding students through programming tasks and core concepts Explained topics clearly, answered questions, and helped students debug code and fix common errors Provided feedback on exercises and coursework, helping students improve structure, logic, and code quality Assisted with marking where required, following module guidelines and ensuring consistent standards Helped students build confidence with Python and SQL through practical examples and step-by-step problem solving Worked closely with the teaching team to support smooth delivery of sessions and student progress ### mentee @ HSBC Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 | United Kingdom ### Work Experience Recruiter @ Pinpoint Partners Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | United Kingdom ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Queen Mary University of London ### A-levels in Maths, Computer Science, Physics George Greens School ### Further mathematics award University of Greenwich ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/tanvir-islam-a65bb621a --- Source: https://flows.cv/tanvirislam JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/tanvirislam/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
