Specifically, the Peer Learning Assistant position was aimed at teaching others what I taught myself over the course of my tenure as a Research Assistant under Rimvydas. Rim and I tag teamed on three courses (Industrial Organization, Experimental Economics, and Energy Economics). Together we helped students of all tenures structure and program experiments, analyze data and organize the data in an accurate and presentable way. ### Research Assistant @ Gettysburg College Jan 2011 – Jan 2013 Designed, programmed, and analyzed multiple economics lab experiments for the Economics Department & Mellon Scholars Program. As a Research Assistant, I taught myself how to write simulation programs in z-Tree (Experimental Economics Software), properly structure experiments to isolate individual factor impacts and analyze/explain the data to non-economic students & faculty members. I worked closely with Professor Rimvydas Baltaduonis to create a computer program which simulated a real-time electricity market and accurately isolated the effects of supply and demand shocks in four dynamic pricing schemes. After creating a good fundamental structure, I organized students to participate in the simulation experiment paying them based on their individual performance within the simulation using funds from Mellon Scholars, Railing Fellowship and Economics Department. Finally I analyzed and digested the data collected within our experiments using STATA (data management and statistical analysis software) and Excel. I was asked to present findings on several occasions to a wide variety of audiences and ultimately assisted running similar programs and presentations at the Institute for Regulatory Law and Economics (IRLE) sponsored by the University of Colorado Silicon Flatirons Center. I spent the final year teaching other students how to structure proper economic experiments, program in z-Tree (Experimental Economics Software) and analyze their own data. ## Education ### Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics Gettysburg College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/taylor-smart - GitHub: https://github.com/taylorsmart --- Source: https://flows.cv/taylorsmart JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/taylorsmart/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
