# Tina Harirchian, MPH > UX Design Lead · Experience Design, Commerce & AI · Behavioral Science · Volvo Cars Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/tinaharirchianmph I design for the moments where emotion and decision meet. The checkout page, the onboarding flow, the handoff that makes someone feel like they made the right choice. At Volvo Cars, I lead UX across a global commerce platform in 30+ markets, using AI-assisted prototyping and research synthesis as core parts of how I work. What makes my practice a little different is where it is grounded. I have spent a decade understanding why people change behavior, what breaks trust, and what builds it back before I ever wrote a design brief. This shapes how I think about price transparency, offer framing, information hierarchy, and the micro-moments that make or break a customer relationship. A few years ago I packed up my life, moved abroad alone with my dog, and relocated to Stockholm to lead UX closer to the heart of the product at Volvo Cars. Outside Volvo, I run Sand Studio Designs, building brand identities and digital products for early-stage founders. I also build AI-assisted tools to solve my own design workflow problems, from research pipelines to client-facing apps shipped end to end. Currently pioneering a 0-to-1 rethinking of how Volvo sells a car: redesigning the configurator to integrate financial offers in a way no automotive brand has done before, using AI-assisted prototyping and research synthesis in active discovery. I manage a team of 7 product designers (3 direct reports) across digital and physical experience design, influence executive roadmap strategy through synthesized research, and guide the team through organizational complexity while maintaining design quality and momentum. ### UX Design Manager @ Volvo Cars Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | Stockholm Stepped into a UX Design Manager role during a pivotal growth period, leading both hands-on design work across Volvo's car shopping experience and team mentorship. When the company restructured to flatten the organization and empower senior ICs, transitioned to UX Lead, retaining full ownership of the same product area and strategic initiatives with continued design execution. ### Senior UX Designer @ Volvo Cars Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Stockholm Led experience design for Volvo's complete order-to-delivery journey across 30+ markets: web checkout, order tracking, mobile app onboarding, and physical car handover at the dealership. The first end-to-end design unifying all three touchpoints. Key results: - 75% increase in conversion through A/B testing of the new operational lease configurator and model pages (Sweden pilot, now scaling globally) - 64% improvement in customer satisfaction - 38% reduction in order cancellations - 15% CX score improvement in the UK DTC market Designed omnichannel flows for in-stock and build-to-order cars across multiple fulfillment states. Used high-fidelity interactive Figma prototypes for validation and engineering handoff. Partnered with mobile app, retail operations, product, and car UX teams to coordinate the physical handover moment, the most emotionally significant touchpoint in the Volvo ownership journey. ### UX Designer @ Volvo Cars Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco Bay Area Reduced agent document-processing time from roughly 40 hours to 2 hours by redesigning the global document upload and credit review experience, streamlining validation and clarity across international markets. Led foundational Volvo ID flows, translating legal, technical, and multi-stakeholder requirements into scalable login and account creation experiences that became the architecture for all future onboarding. Collaborated with global product, engineering, legal, and market teams across 30+ markets. ### Founder, Brand and Web Designer @ Sand Studio Designs Jan 2020 – Present | Remote Founded an independent design studio building brand identities and digital experiences for early-stage founders, running the full arc from 0 to launch: brand strategy, UX, visual identity, and digital storefront. I also build AI-assisted tools to solve real problems in my own design practice, from research synthesis workflows to client-facing apps shipped end to end. Host of Defining Next, a podcast exploring the mindset and decisions behind founders building from scratch. ### Product Designer @ Moss Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Designed GABBI’s breast cancer prevention app by translating clinical research and behavioral science insights into a clear and trustworthy mobile and web experiences to shape risk-assessment flows, self-exam guidance, education, community and investor-ready prototypes that informed the startup’s MVP and product direction. ### Wellness Strategist @ Humana Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | Walnut Creek, California Led health and wellness initiatives for enterprise employees across 20 Northern California companies, applying behavior change frameworks to drive sustained engagement with digital wellness tools. This work is the behavioral science foundation I now bring to interaction design, specifically to designing for trust, adoption, and long-term engagement in complex digital products. Translating health data into plain-language, action-oriented guidance was an early model for the information design approach I apply across global commerce and onboarding systems today. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (BS) in Cognitive Science UC San Diego ### Masters in Public Health University of San Francisco ### Certificate in UX/UI University of California, Berkeley ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/tharirchian - Portfolio: https://www.hellotinadesign.com - Portfolio: https://www.sandstudiodesigns.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/tinaharirchianmph JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/tinaharirchianmph/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
