# Tom M. > Director of Product Design at Linktree. Ex-Strava, InVision, Grailed Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/tomm I am a passionate digital product designer and leader with over 15-years experience building consumer products people are passionate about. My purpose is to create products that achieve positive impacts and outcomes for people through user-centered, design best practice. As a designer I look strategically at a product experience system as a whole and strongly consider purpose and goals before considering the details of implementation. I am experienced working in fast-paced, agile environments where I am required to collaborate with, lead, and mentor others and work in tightly integrated iterative cross-discipline teams across contributor to executive & founder level. ## Work Experience ### Director of Product Design @ Linktree Jan 2025 – Present ### Design Leader, Growth & Core @ Linktree Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 ### Design Advisor @ Notes.fm Jan 2025 – Present Notes.fm is solving a real problem in the music industry: artists claiming unpaid royalty payments! Working directly with founders to set & articulate vision and deliver 0 to 1 experiences for fans & artists in an engaging white-label product experience that directly connects artists and their superfans, changing how each understand one another. ### Sr Staff Product Designer @ Grailed Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 Rolled up the sleeves again wanting to get back into the work after focus on leading and managing teams for the prior 6 years. I'd highly recommend this to any designer leader who got into design because they loved creation & craft but found themselves later focussed on leadership, management, and work direction. There really is no better substitute and ensures the leader understands the everyday realities of a designer working in an EPD team as well as staying sharp with the craft itself! ### Director of Design @ InVision Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Built & scaled core experiences. Activities included performing the act of synthesis, coalescing knowledge of mediums, human behavior, stakeholder demands, and business goals into specific, actionable details. Then I executed them, helping facilitate others across multiple disciplines in transmitting and refining their own ideas at the same time too. During this period I spent a large period of time leading the experience strategy, user experience, and interaction design of a new multi-platform (web, iOS, and native touchscreen installation) real time collaboration tool from workspace innovators Haworth, aimed at helping distributed teams increase productivity and drive decision making. The product is now in the marketplace and is used by a variety of industries including architecture, education, and film. We started Modular to do the work we loved: creating cutting-edge responsive design with a mobile-first approach for clients across the world, empowering them to gain a mobile presence, ahead of the curve, in the emerging post-PC landscape. Although we didn’t realize it at the time, we created one of the first client-services agencies in the world to specialize in delivering only responsive web design! During this time we delivered responsive projects for a range of clients including EMI Records, University of Chicago, Live Nation and many others. ### Online Content Designer @ Live Nation Entertainment Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 | London, United Kingdom Repositioned the company’s genre-specific digital marketing, dispatched to 500,000+ subscribers, from a ticketing-driven event listings format to an editorial, content-first format. This involved designing and establishing a user-centered content strategy focused on the creation of engaging content aimed at music & event discovery, driving increased ticket sales. Performed and synthesized user research, comparative audit, presented recommendations to key executive stakeholders, curated and authored copy, made visual design alterations, and measured efficacy. Results saw significant immediate growth in both quantitative and qualitative engagement, an immediate drop in unsubscribe rate, and a company desire to developing the format further to expand it across the rest of its portfolio. ### Web Designer @ DrownedinSound.com / Quietus Group Jan 2008 – Jan 2008 Quietus Group was a joint venture established at the beginning of 2008 between Drowned in Sound (Europe’s equivalent to Pitchfork) and British Sky Broadcasting to support the expansion of DiS and to create a series of new editorial sites aimed at a number of new demographics Sky was targeting. I was the designer and project manager that worked with the editorial team to get two new websites (TheQuietus.com / ThrashHits.com) online rapidly to begin testing brand direction and content strategy. During this time I also executed online marketing campaigns, created web advertising to drive users to the new sites, and identified revenue streams not already being exploited - generating 100% incremental revenue. ### Digital Designer & Release Manager @ Drowned in Sound Records / Simplyred.com Recordings UK Jan 2007 – Jan 2008 | London, United Kingdom Designed digital release artwork and print press advertising to promote artist releases. I also prepared and delivered all digital release content to major digital and mobile distributors as well as own label artist stores to meet worldwide release schedules. ### New Media Manager @ Silentway Artist Management Jan 2007 – Jan 2008 Designed and coded artist websites and social networking profiles (MySpace, YouTube, iLike, Facebook, etc) aligned with artist brand.
