# Tyson Frederick > Senior Product Designer (Generative AI & Interaction) Location: San Jose, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/tyson Hi, I'm Tyson. I build systems that bridge the digital and physical worlds. At my core, I'm a hybrid designer and developer, fascinated by the space where art and technology meet. My career explores this intersection, driven by a deep curiosity about the systems, seen and unseen, that shape our experiences. I believe every product is a system of rules. My process deconstructs these systems from first principles to find the core problem, then architects new, intuitive experiences that feel meaningful and, at their best, a little bit magical. My Journey: From Art to AI My path to product design has been intentionally multi-disciplinary. It began with building interactive 3D worlds in the Hammer SDK, sparking a passion for immersive environments. That pursuit led me to a Master of Fine Arts in Art & Technology, a three-year R&D fellowship in human-computer interaction. I built generative art systems with Processing and engineered award-winning interactive installations using computer vision and the Kinect. I've since applied that R&D mindset as a founder and creative technologist, leading complex "zero-to-one" projects. This includes architecting the four-sided ecosystem for FoodShare and developing a real-time 3D simulation in Unreal Engine 4 to make an invisible process visible for investors. Today, my focus is on the next wave of interaction. I'm constantly learning (Google UX & IBM AI certified) and channeling my background in generative systems to design the future of intuitive, empowering Human-AI collaboration. Beyond the Pixels When I'm not designing or coding, my world revolves around my family. I'm a lifelong explorer of reality (often in video games/game engines), an avid university level researcher, and I love the outdoors. I have a steady thirst for knowledge, from expanding my consciousness to my pursuit of higher education, and I'm driven by a core belief that technology can solve meaningful, real-world problems. Let's Connect I'm always open to discussing new challenges, innovative ideas, and opportunities to build the future. ## Work Experience ### Lead Product Designer & Creative Technologist @ Freelance & Founder-Led Projects Jan 2015 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area Architected the product vision and end-to-end UX for FoodShare, a complex four-sided logistics platform to combat food insecurity. Drove product strategy, developed the pre-launch community growth plan, defined the business model, and designed the user experience for four distinct user roles (donors, volunteers, non-profits, patrons). Led the 200-hour development of an interactive 3D simulation in Unreal Engine 4 to visualize a complex industrial product for R&D. Translated engineering schematics into a high-impact concept video for investors, successfully making an invisible mechanical process visible and understandable. Drove client business strategy by translating abstract goals into launched e-commerce platforms (Shopify & Squarespace). Owned the 0-to-1 product lifecycle, from technical bid and service definition to full UX/UI design. Directed the UX for the Nevada Global Tourism Summit’s live event app, driving over 6,300 engagements from 200+ active users and delivering 20k+ impressions for key sponsors over the 3 day event. Independently developed and shipped a complete Android application to the Google Play Store. ### Problem Solver in Quality @ Amazon Jan 2023 – Present | Stockton, California, United States ### Graduate Lead & Teaching Associate @ San José State University Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 | San Jose, California, United States Led a team in the year-long migration of the Academic Technologies website to a new CMS, writing custom HTML/CSS and managing the successful transfer of over 1,000 files. Served as Mobile Development Lead Intern for the ZERO1 Art & Technology Biennial, facilitating a team of five through the full design and development lifecycle of a public-facing festival app used by over 1000 attendees. Served as Managerial Editor and Lead Developer for SWITCH, the university's official new media journal, managing a team of six department heads and owning the full technical implementation (HTML, CSS, PHP). Taught university-level courses on digital media, programming concepts (Python, Scratch), and web development (HTML/CSS), simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences. ## Education ### Master of Fine Arts - MFA in Digital Media & Art Technology San José State University ### Bachelor of Arts - BA in Digital Media University of Nevada, Reno ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/tysonfrederick - Website: https://www.tysonfrederick.com - Website: http://foodshare.co --- Source: https://flows.cv/tyson JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/tyson/resume.json Last updated: 2026-02-23
