As CTO and Cofounder of Elphinstone, I led the technical vision and execution for a fintech startup transforming financial services across Pakistan.
My role spanned technical leadership, product innovation, team building, and regulatory compliance, driving the development of a B2B web application and a Robinhood-inspired mobile trading platform tailored to the region’s dynamic market.
I would also get my hands dirty and deep dive in to solve tech problems, that the team was having trouble with or were stuck on.
Key Responsibilities:
Spearheaded the creation of a B2B web app and mobile trading platform from 0-1 using React, Typescript, Python, Golang, React Native, and Kubernetes. Architected a scalable, cloud-agnostic infrastructure. Also did a smooth transition from AWS to Azure with zero downtime.
Built and nurtured a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Established hiring processes, conducted technical interviews, and set coding standards to ensure quality as we scaled.
Adhered to SEC compliance and user trust by implementing robust security protocols, including encryption, secure APIs, and robust reporting. Performed internal cybersecurity audits and oversaw third-party cybersecurity audits to maintain a proactive stance.
Streamlined workflows by implementing CI/CD pipelines, and embracing GitOps for efficient deployments. Managed technical debt strategically to keep our systems scalable and future-ready.
Implemented customer analytics, error analytics, and feedback to refine our products, boosting user satisfaction and engagement while aligning development with real-world impact.

Collaborated with Universities on Academia R&D Projects. One notable project was an IOT device that would be strapped on an Individual Industrial motor and would do predictive monitoring of the motor health, suggest downtime, and suggest maintenance windows. It would combine sound, vibration and temperature readings to achieve this. I was instrumental in designing the data ingestion pipeline for the server. Another achievement was setting up the analysis of the vibration data using Fast Fourier Transform Algorithm.
My technical services have included evaluation of data centre designs for an IT centralization project, implementation of Telephony Exchange to connect five sites, router and firewall work, and a VPN during COVID-19 for one client.
I have also developed multiple projects for a healthcare provider, including a datacenter (two servers, network switch, core router, and a UPS data center), an IP camera security surveillance system with streaming video, an intercom system with a local exchange for internet and phone communication, and video calling for telehealth.

Codex was a US-based software product firm that has pivoted to an enterprise solution provider. I joined their Karachi office with responsibilities that include business development, demos, requirements gathering, hiring and mentoring new team members, establishing internal IT infrastructure, and execution of client projects.
Internal projects:
Researched and developed multi-region, scalable, and highly available solutions on on-premise data centre as well as managing AWS deployments.
Led design, procurement, and implementation of Codex’s initial computing, networking and micro data centre infrastructure. Saved over 60% on IT infrastructure costs by repairing and deploying used imported hardware.
Developing a scalable and highly available architecture for measuring, processing and displaying power and diagnostic metrics of a mass distribution consumer power generation device.
Developing the architecture and leading software team in creating a scalable and highly available data pipeline for ingesting and backend infrastructure for analysing and displaying IOT health module data.
Leveraged cloud technologies to provide Unified Communication as a Service on a global scale.
Managed team to convert all internal infrastructure to OpenStack and Kubernetes with Ceph as storage backend.
Drove initiative to develop solutions for tracking application metrics and network monitoring using SNMP, OS metrics, ICMP, custom scripts, etc.
Researched and designed the architecture for coding to deployment pipeline with automated testing.
Designed and implemented an object storage and an in-house hardware HSM and managed data security and system access and usage rights through an IAM.
Client projects:
Led team in R&D and prototyping for a robust home automation solution (lights, fan, HVAC, TV, etc.).
Surveyed, researched and submitted design of an inventory management system for a leading oil producer.
